Cypress Creek Renewables is seeking a highly motivated candidate with utility solar monitoring and maintenance experience to oversee and manage the daily operation of a utility scale PV plant. The Solar Plant Operator will act as the main source for identifying and planning for resolution of underperforming areas of the plant. The Operator will also create monthly, quarterly, or annual performance/production reports for internal and external use.

This role is located in Laurinburg, NC.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Closely monitor the day-to-day operation of 100MW solar plant through DAS monitoring systems, and formulate reports, performance and process improvement.

  • Maintain and repair system components when issues are identified.

  • Data analysis of system performance.

  • Maintain a schedule for routine maintenance, service, troubleshooting and repair of equipment.

  • Manage and refine DAS alerts.

  • Identify safety hazards and take appropriate action to remove or eliminate hazards.

  • Maintain subcontractor network to aid in repairs, maintenance, and troubleshooting when necessary.

  • Create monthly operability and major issue/downtime reports.

  • Predict future issues via data analytics and trends.

  • Create monthly and annual system performance reports for asset management and project finance teams.

Preferred Education and/or Work Experience Requirements:

  • 2+ years of experience in monitoring or modeling and troubleshooting PV plants through utility scale DAS systems.

  • BS in Business or related discipline, or BS in Engineering

  • NABCEP Certified Installation Professional

  • Experience with operation of SCADA, DAS and UPS systems.

  • Experience in all aspects of PV maintenance, including DC systems, AC medium voltage systems, and network communications and monitoring.

  • OSHA 30 HR Training

  • NFPA 70E Standard for Electrical Safety in workplace

  • Skilled in the use of testing equipment and tools such as Thermographic Electrical Inspection, IV Curve Tracing, Meggers, Ground Fault Detection

  • Diagnostic capabilities to troubleshoot and correct problems found via DAS.

  • Knowledge of National Electrical Code and standard design/construction practices.

  • Ability to read and understand electrical single-line and three-line diagrams

  • Proficiency with MS Office suite

  • Ability to take direction and complete tasks with minimal oversight

  • Valid Driver’s License

  • Must have the ability to travel, work on-call during off-shift hours and weekends.

  • Experience working with a CMMS platform (preferably for power generation facility).

Physical Requirements/Work Environment:

  • Work is to be performed in the home office and field.

  • Must be able to comply with all safety standards and procedures. PPE personal protective equipment is required (including but not limited to; hard hat, arc flash protection, safety glasses, hearing protection)

  • Must have the ability to sit, stoop, kneel, bend, stand, or walk for 8-10 hours a day.

  • Must be able to lift, push, or pull up to 50 pounds on an occasional basis
