Jewel-Osco Operations Manager in Lancaster, Texas
The Operations Manager’s responsibility is to maximize the performance of the site by directing the day, week, and monthly activities; providing leadership, motivation, training and development of the workforce; executing against customer requirements and operational performance; and “Making Llano a great place to work.”
Executes customer/vendor contract requirements and identifies accessorial activity and ensures necessary documentation
Utilizes the site inventory management system to ensure:
o Management of cycle counting/adjustment/rotation programs
o Productivity and space utilization (efficient product placement, etc.)
o Accuracy (to floor and customer book); and
o Identifies opportunities for technology enhancements
Deliver a safe, secure, clean and fair work environment for associates
Provide for associate performance reviews, development and/or succession planning as appropriate
Ensure compliance to the routines outlined in the site interaction matrix and standard operating procedures
Ensure company policies are communicated, administered, and enforced (i.e., accounting, operational, safety, regulatory, and administrative)
Participates in the management of turnover among hourly and supervisory staff consistent with the site turnover objectives
Ensures the associates have the proper access to the necessary tools to perform their assigned duties and that the tools are routinely maintained
Operate within the agreed budget (p&l) for the site (allocation of overtime, purchasing, etc.)
Coordinate the collection of performance measurements consistent with customer, vendor, (balanced scorecard) contractual requirements.
Understand process performance versus target objectives, identify reasons for variance, communicate and implement necessary changes
Ensure daily/weekly workload planning and volume forecasting routines are accomplished (i.e., staffing, equipment, space)
Execution of workshop action plans, projects, and best practices sharing/implementation
Performs other duties as assigned People Management Responsibilities:
Recruitment and Selection: determine labor needs; understand and use the Company’s interviewing process and tools; implement on boarding (Passport orientation, etc.).
Managing & Rewarding Performance: set clear performance expectations (Passport, Performance Management Process); provide regular feedback and reviews; resolve team conflicts; encourage a positive and safe environment; use coaching and corrective action for underperformance; understand and use voluntary/involuntary termination processes.
Training & Development: understand and coach others on processes, tools and standards (SOP’s); ensure training requirements are met; identify and address skill gaps; discuss career interests.
Communication & Engagement: communicate site, company, and other pertinent information to team (pre shift, one on one, etc.); share customer information on regular basis. Qualifications Skill/Requirements:
Meets corporate competency model requirements
Preventative maintenance routines
Facility management (i.e., maintenance, sanitation, etc.)
Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience
1-3 years logistics industry experience
2-4 years’ experience in a supervisory / management role This position has the following responsibilities associated with Llano’s Food Safety Management System (SQF Program):
Oversee all operations for all departments and staff to ensure all aspects of Llano’s Food Safety Management System, including all pre-requisite programs are being complied with.
