Kaiser Permanente Director Hospital / Health Plan Operations (Antelope Valley) in Lancaster, California

This position serves as the Senior Healthplan Administrator for Antelope Valley. This position is responsible for all operations and expenditures as they relate to Kaiser Foundation Healthplan and Hospitals in the Antelope Valley. This position also functions as the point person, representing the Senior. V.P. and Service Area Manager, integrating Area and Division efforts to plan, implement and manage the care delivery model in the Antelope Valley.

Essential Functions: - Collaborates with the local market leadership, of both Healthplan and Medical Group, to develop and implement short and long range business strategies that utilize external provider alliances as part of an integrated care delivery strategy. - Represents Kaiser Foundation Healthplan and Hospitals in all aspects of development, planning and analysis for Antelope Valley. - Coordinates development activities with Divisional and Regional contracting staff. Identifies potential partners/alliances that provide quality service at an affordable price. - Communicates operational, utilization cost, quality and service expectations to potential and existing providers/network alliances. - Maintains effective working relationships with key internal and external customers. - Ensures that above all else, the Kaiser Permanente Medical Care Program is responsive to the needs of its customers. - Ensures that communication about the care delivery model are in place for staff, medical group, market leaders, internal and external customers, etc. - Represents Kaiser Foundation Healthplan and Hospitals in all aspects of development, planning and analysis for Antelope Valley. - Oversees Healthplan/Hospital quality, utilization, regulatory requirements and member satisfaction programs in cooperation with Service Area and local market leadership. - Maintains community and corporate relationships on behalf of Kaiser Foundation Healthplan. - Responsible for building and maintaining good relationships with network Hospital/ Healthplan providers. - Patient Safety: Accountable to promote an organizational culture of safety and ensure appropriate patient safety standards and guidelines are implemented consistently in the delivery of health care to our patients, including but not limited to: TJC, National Quality Forum, and Leapfrog. - See Patient Safety Leadership Accountabilities Addendum for job specific accountabilities.

Qualifications: Basic Qualifications: Experience - Minimum five (5) years of experience in health care management, with at least two (2) years in contracts management. Education - Bachelor's degree in health care, business administration or related field required. License, Certification, Registration - N/A. Additional Requirements: - Previous experience working with various payment methodologies and spreadsheet analysis, hospital and ancillary providers and physicians. - Excellent understanding of health care service industry, competitive market strategies and hospital operations. - Demonstrated ability to work independently with a variety of internal and external personnel at all organization levels. - Strong project management, leadership and communication skills required. - Strong financial and analytical skills with experience analyzing medical expenses and utilization. - Thorough understanding of the healthcare industry, particularly related to physician relationships as well as nurse and ancillary care givers. - Thorough knowledge of legal, regulatory, ethical, managerial, organizational requirements, principles and standards of care for hospitals and healthcare systems. - Thorough knowledge of the principles and practices of hospital administration. - Must be able to work in a Labor/Management Partnership environment.

Preferred Qualifications: - Master's degree in health care administration or business administration OR two (2) years of experience in a directly related field preferred.
