Wastewater Treatment Plant OperatorMust: Possess a valid Colorado Drivers License. Possession of a currentClass B WWTP Operators Certification plus five years of experience in theoperation and maintenance of a municipal wastewater treatment plant. Must beable to respond to emergency calls within 15 minutes. Must pass apre-employment drug screen. Participation in a random drug and alcohol testingprogram. Any combination of experience and training equivalent to graduationfrom high school; Two years supervisory experience in the maintenance andoperation of a wastewater treatment plant;Preferred: Possession of a current Collections 2, 3, or 4 by the Stateof Colorado strongly preferred, or possess ability to obtain a Collections 2certification within2 years. Possess a valid commercial driver s license,or the ability to obtain one within one year of hire. Have a basicunderstanding of SCADA (Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition)systems, PLC s, electrical experience, and a familiarity withautomated WWTP process control and operations.Skills: Possess computer skills to include Windows, Word, Excel, andwork order system software.Duties: Under supervision of the Wastewater Supervisor, performs technicaland supervisory work as Operator in directing and participating in theoperation of wastewater treatment plant and laboratory. Plans, schedules,coordinates, and reviews the work of semi-skilled and skilled operating andmaintenance personnel; performs specialized and complex analysis inwastewater treatment laboratory; supervises plant operation and maintenancein absence of Supervisor; performs and supervises repairs to plantequipment; performs standardized and specialized tests to samples asrequired and interprets data; applies knowledge of wastewater principles todefine problems and draw valid conclusions to make plant operationalchanges; establishes sampling and test priorities; trains new operators;monitors controls and operations at plant, and makes corrections asrequired; makes recommendations for plant modifications and purchases;monitors, schedules and supervises sampling and analyses on industrial wastecontributors through contract laboratories; makes inspections of industrialwaste.
