This exciting career opportunity supports the Space Test & Engineering Contract (STEC) on Kirtland Air Force Base in Albuquerque, New Mexico.
The STEC contract is the operations contract of the Research, Development, Test, and Evaluation Support Complex (RSC) at the Advanced Systems & Development Directorate.
The Operations Manager will have the following responsibilities:
Responsible for providingdirection and management of work groups and/or units engaged in related ordiverse activities.
Provides coordination withother groups to accomplish tasks outside normal areas of responsibility.
Establishes unit objectives,work plans, schedules, and ensures resources are available for completionof complex technical projects.
Participates in the departmentstrategic planning process develops long-term plans and ensuresappropriate skills are available when needed.
Coordinates and leadsactivities of subordinates and cross-functional teams.
Evaluates and analyzes currentwork methods to foster continuous improvement.
Provides technical direction asrequired.
May perform higher level tasksassociated with an individual contributor role.
Analyzes tasks to establishneeded staff personnel skill mixes to accomplish chartered work.
Evaluates and implementschanges in work procedures in assigned areas.
Develops and implements newprocesses/procedures as needed.
Recommends candidates foremployment.
Conducts performance evaluations,plans salary actions, recommends promotions, interprets and appliesorganization policies, and provides leadership toward resolving employeeproblems.
Champions, coaches andmotivates teams and/or team members.
Provides career development andtraining for subordinates.
Conducts meetings and technicalpresentations.
Is the primary customerinterface for specific operational group issues.
Performs all other duties asassigned.
BA/BS degree with 18 years of related experience and previous supervisory/management experience. Specific contract requirements regarding education and experience will prevail.
Possesses leadership skills,ability to counsel, coach, develop, and motivate staff of professionals;has team building and facilitation skills.
Exhibits full use of standardtheories, principles, concepts and techniques.
Knowledge of advanced aspectsof technical specialties in assigned area(s) of responsibilities.
