JOB SUMMARY The Director of Operations (DO) shall provide tactical and strategic leadership and management of the activities, operations, and personnel of FlightWorks, Inc. The DO shall establish and achieve the company's goals and objectives and maintain the highest level of safety, FAA compliance, service and standards for operating under Federal Aviation Regulations 14 CFR Parts 91 and 135. The DO shall meet all requirements under 14 CFR 119.71 and will also hold the FAA-designated title of Director of Operations. The DO shall participate and be an effective part of the leadership team and participate in leadership and cross-departmental development.JOB RELATIONSHIPS?Reports to: President and CEO?Supervises: Chief Pilot, Pilots, Cabin Attendants? ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:Operational duties include: ?Insure absolute 100% compliance with FlightWorks' culture of uncompromised safety and regulatory compliance.?Meets the requirements of FAR 119.71. H/she is authorized to exercise operational control as per FAR 135.77.?Must be a subject matter expert on Federal Aviation Regulations applicable to FlightWorks and is the primary interface with FAA.?Jointly responsible with Pilot-in-Command for the initiation, continuation, diversion and termination of a flight in compliance with FARs, manuals and the Operations Specifications.?Ensuring that high levels of customer service are provided to the company and its customers?Maintaining an operations policy manual to include GOM, FOM, and other pertinent company manuals?Establishing training programs for pilots, including proficiency reviews, initial training, recurrent training and upgrade training?Coordinating the activities of flight operations to achieve the company's goals and objectives?Analyzing various training sources, which could include aircraft training flights, simulator training, enroute flight checks, ground school training and prepackaged learning courses?Anticipating the need for upgrade training to meet additional or replacement needs?Evaluating department personnel periodically to ensure superior levels of performance?Establishing standards and limitations to ensure safe and efficient department operations?Establishing flight dispatch policies and procedures that govern the approval, delay, or cancellation of flight operations?Establishing and monitoring security procedures to protect the aircraft and company facilities?Representing the company in aviation matters through trade associations, the FAA, state or municipal aviation bodies, airport management, community organizations and contract agencies?Maintaining high morale through an awareness of company and department policies, employee development programs and periodic department meetings for the two-way communication of ideas, goals and objectives?Makes recommendations to correct/prevent identified safety issues?Communicates safety issues to all within the flight department?Must work closely with the Chief Pilot and flight crews to develop an efficient work relationship that delivers results for FlightWorks.?Work closely with the President and leadership team to develop and refine FlightWorks' short and long term business plan and objectives.?Participates in operations on-call duties as needed.?Other duties may be assigned.Administrative duties include:?Developing and instituting department policies and procedures - including basic company policies, procedures and objectives - into departmental functions?Preparing annual operating budgets that include operating expenses, facilities, supplies, outside services, personnel, training, capital expenses and reserves?Monitoring an operating budget?Reporting deviations between estimated expenditures and actual costs to higher management with appropriate explanations?Establishing scheduling policies and procedures that provide effective control and management?Establishing and maintaining partnerships with relevant company staff and customers?Participate in commer
