Midwest Medical Transport Operational Development Paramedic in Kansas City, Missouri
The ODT Paramedic helps open new stations, provides help to stations that are short providers, and are leaders in the EMS community. Provides basic to advanced emergency and non-emergency paramedical care to the ill and injured. Guides and directs EMT’s in the application of appropriate EMS techniques, as required. Performs direct illness/injury assessment and management, preparation for transport, transfer of required information, and patient care.

Attends emergency and non-emergency medical requests as they arise, renders on-site assistance to patients as required.
Performs initial assessment and management of illness or injury to emergency patients in accordance with specified protocol and procedures.
Prepares or assists in the preparations of patients for transport, ensuring compliance with protocol and procedure.
Provides direct paramedical and comprehensive patient care as required in each individual case.
Leads, guides, and/or assists in training of lower level personnel and/or students, as specifically assigned.
Inspects emergency medical equipment to ensure serviceability and compliance with safety and infection control regulations and standards.
Performs daily duties and miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned.

Safely operate and maintain an emergency vehicle while in compliance with all laws pertaining to the operation of an emergency vehicle while transporting patients
Render competent patient care in both pre-hospital and inter-facility setting
Thorough knowledge of EMS procedures and ability to integrate knowledge and performance into practical situations
Interact professionally with other health care personnel
Interact professionally with disabled, disadvantaged, sick and injured persons
Work as part of a team
Accurately and completely document information required in EMS charts, including PCRs, daily vehicle inspections, and daily inventory checks
Assists other EMS providers with EMS care
Give report verbally or in writing to higher healthcare facilities
Clean the equipment, check and replace the used and damaged supplies
Compliance with all company and local agency policies, procedures, and applicable protocols for emergency treatment and transportation
Attend refresher programs and continuing education required by medical director
Maintain a clean appearance, demonstrating courteous, professional and ethical behavior
Skills and experience incumbent to function with proficiency at the ALS level of service
Self-confidence, emotional stability, good judgment, tolerance for high stress
Ability to deal with adverse situations
Possess good verbal communication skills
Physically strenuous and can be emotionally stressful, sometimes involving life-or-death situations.
May be exposed to infectious diseases, hazardous chemicals, and other dangerous substances. May encounter environmental extremes, violent individuals, and numerous other hazards.
Work in varied weather conditions.

Position Type/Expected Hours of Work
Full time position
Dependent upon the station being worked at; 8, 10, 12 or 24-hour shifts.
- Members on this team must be able to travel throughout the Midwest.
Required Education and Experience
High School Diploma or GED
National Registry Paramedic Card
Valid State Driver’s License
3 years EMS experience
Preferred Education and Experience
Critical Care Certification
Additional Eligibility Requirements
Current & valid state driver’s license
Must pass company provided PCP physical capacity profile exam (post offer, pre- employment) & Drug Screen
Meet company policy MVR criteria
Must successfully complete company sponsored EVOC
