The Certified Surgical Technologist provides advanced technical services to the surgical patient including taking patient histories, assisting physicians and professional nursing staff, educating patients, performing biological testing, completes data entry, inventories supplies, and coordinates the repair of instruments and equipment. Scrubs for surgical procedures and passes instruments to the physicians. Assists in cleaning the operating room upon completion of procedures.
High school Diploma or GED.
Proof of current certification designated as Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) provided through the Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health Education Programs (CAAHEP).
Ability to stand for the majority of the work time; sometimes wearing a 10 lb. x-ray apron for several hours at a time; lifting 50lbs. pushing/pulling 125lbs.,frequent lifting 1-25 lb. sterile trays during the course of the day.
Good communication and written skills.
Ability to handle stressful situations and changing conditions; flexibility to adapt to scheduling changes and changes in patient condition. Good time management skills and ability to be self-directed.
Strong Orthopedic experience preferred (especially total joint replacement). DaVinci robotic experience preferred.
