Aerojet Rocketdyne offers a complete line of propulsion products for launch vehicles ranging from missile defense to advanced hypersonic propulsion. These products have been used in a wide variety of government and commercial applications, including the main engines for the Space Shuttle, Atlas and Delta launch vehicles, and High Altitude Defense Systems.
We are seeking a Parts Inspector (CMM Operator) for a day shift opportunity. This position will be located at our facility in West Palm Beach, Florida .
Essential Job Functions (Including % of Time for Each):
Perform a variety of receiving, routing, and records processing of parts, assemblies, and associated paperwork to maintain proper control of parts and materials throughout all of the various inspection processes. Make disposition of items in accordance with established company and government quality procedures and inspection requirements. May be required to plan, direct, and perform a wide range of computerized coordinate measuring machine (CMM) operations, and develop new coordinate measuring routines, methods, procedures, and applications to inspect all types of parts, assemblies, tools and fixtures in various stages of experimental development and manufacture.
40% - Plan and perform a wide range of Coordinate Measuring Machine (CMM) operations- work from drawings, inspection methods sheets, and direct instructions to determine inspection requirements. Determine type of CMM most adaptable to inspection requirements of the items to be inspected, utilizing the most efficient and effective operation of CMM. Perform necessary supportive documentation and reports to inspection processes
30% - Perform various physical and visual inspections on parts and assemblies from receiving inspection to more complex inspections.
10% - Research and investigate anomalies and non-conformance parts, determine proper cause and corrective action and assist in the resolution.
10% - Participate in continuous improve activities and processes.
Required: 0-4 years of directly related experience. 2-3 years trade school highly desirable.
Prior experience in the Aerospace industry is a plus.
The level at which the successful candidate will be employed is dependent on the skills, experience and knowledge they possess. (Position level will be filled based on education and experience of identified candidate.)
Requires well rounded knowledge of applied mathematics including, algebra, geometry, trigonometry and handbook formulae to read and interpret drawings, specifications and complicated sketches. Basic computer skills and the ability to navigate through manufacturing and quality systems.
Requires ability to operate CMM and other inspection tools.

Work Environment and Physical Requirements:
Employees in these positions must possess mobility to work in a standard manufacturing, as well as office setting and to use standard office equipment, including a computer; stamina to sit or stand and maintain attention to detail despite interruptions; may occasionally lift/carry/push/pull up to 25 pounds; may require occasional walking, climbing, stooping, crouching, and/or bending; and vision to read printed materials and a computer screen, and hearing and speech to communicate in person and over the telephone. May require the ability to travel by air or auto. May require the use of personal protective equipment such as safety glasses, safety shoes, and shop coat. These positions may be expected to work varying shifts and hours to ensure successful operation of activities in the organization.
