PURPOSE : An Operations Analyst’s main responsibility is to ensure service, availability and productivity of the driver while also balancing driver miles, home time, and performance. The Operations Analyst engages in problem solving behavior to maximize utilization and drive performance metrics with customers. The Operations Analyst is expected to perform tracking of customer specific and commodity specific loads within their fleet, ensuring service and timely communication to the customer.
Manage drivers to ensure service, availability and productivity while balancing driver miles, home time, and performance
Monitoring the fleet to assist in providing on time service to the customers
Tracking specific load types such as high value (computers, electronics, tobacco products, etc) to watch for security issues
Trouble shooting problems for drivers (directions to customer locations, pick up/delivery numbers, helping with Canadian paperwork, etc)
Assisting with payroll issues (authorizing trip expenses, setting up vacation pay, processing forms to correct payroll problems, etc)
Managing a driver’s miles (and ultimately his/her paycheck) by making sure the driver’s time is used efficiently and knowing the difference between a good load and a load that needs improvement
Approving and managing a driver’s home time requests and keeping the driver in a position to arrive home on time
Continued focus on driver retention
Processing Human Resource forms such as leave of absence or termination of employment
Monitor driver’s Hours of Service (logging) for DOT compliance
Utilize management tools to effectively track equipment throughout the system.
Read and respond to driver messages. Verify all information when communicating with a driver.
Build rapport with drivers, customer service and planning through honesty and communication.
Consistently review Driver performance and take disciplinary action if necessary.
Understand telephone functions and answer calls in a courteous and timely manner.
Other duties as assigned.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS :
4-yr college degree, or 3 years of relevant work experience in the transportation industry is required
One year of experience in the transportation field (preferably truckload transport)
Understanding of U.S., Mexico, and Canada geography as well as developed map reading skills
Knowledge of Department of Transportation requirements relating to ground transportation
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Demonstrated ability to work in a team environment
