Project Superintendent (Operations) - BWSR - Idaho Falls, ID
BWSR is the Decontamination, Decommissioning, and Demolition (D&D) sub-contractor at the Naval Reactors Facility in Idaho Falls, ID, and performs the remediation of legacy nuclear and environmental materials on site. The main project areas at the site include remediation of historical research facilities, demolition of buildings, and characterization of site-infrastructure to support on-going maintenance and construction.
This position is an exempt Management position responsible for day-to-day decontamination and dispositioning operations. In order to maintain consistent application of resources, this person must work closely as a team member with the Engineering, Environmental Engineering Radiological Controls, and Project Management organizations to accomplish Company and customer goals. This person must communicate well in both oral and written forms, performing simple operations on a personal computer in support of work, and may also serve as a trainer and mentor.
Specific duties include, but are not limited to:
Provides Managerial oversight and leadership for all field personnel to ensure the highest safety, environmental, radiological and operational standards are maintained.
Coordinates and supervises Operations Supervisors.
Assigns appropriate operations supervision and personnel support to specific tasks.
Monitors training status of operations personnel to ensure qualified and trained personnel are available for scheduled tasks.
Reviews Technical Work Documents (TWDs) in support of D&D work.
Responsible for daily administrative, employee relations and team-building for the Operations organization.
Participates in employee reviews, merit advancements, and personnel investigations. Makes recommendations regarding disciplinary actions for the Operations organization.
Ensures the work force is adequately supplied with materials and equipment.
Responsible for Management follow of progress of D&D work efforts, keeping upper line management informed on the status of jobs.
Ensures safety, environmental controls, radiological controls, productivity and individual training and work practices at the job site are commensurate with requirements.
Audits work in progress to assure compliance with established procedures.
Participates in employment interviews and makes hiring recommendations.
May be required to act as alternate Remediation Manager as needed.
Job Qualifications / Requirements
A Bachelors’ degree with a minimum of five years’ experience in the area of radiological and environmental D&D work. Experience with the Naval Reactors (NR) program is strongly preferred or equivalent education and/or training plus job related experience. A preponderance of NR D&D experience may be substituted for the educational requirement upon customer approval.
Must be physically qualified to perform duties of the job description.
Must be able to obtain and maintain qualification as a radiological contamination worker.
Must be familiar with Microsoft Office and be able to produce reports, presentations, and communications as requested.
Must be able to secure and maintain a DOE “L” Clearance.

Position requires U.S. Citizenship (with no dual citizenship) and ability to obtain and maintain a Department of Energy (DOE) security clearance which involves an extensive criminal and financial background investigation and previous employment reference verifications.
