As the Operations Manager, you will contribute to the profitability of the store by overseeing the overall day to day operations of the store and all inventory control practices.

Job Purpose: The Operations Manager is responsible for overseeing the operations processes of the business and maintaining the integrity of the store inventory to ensure a seamless and enjoyable customer experience. As an Operations Manager, you will be executing inventory control practices by following direction handed down from the corporate office. In partnership with the Store Manager, the Operations Manager will contribute to the profitability of the store with their accurate daily systems and routines and inventory control efforts.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Maintain the integrity of the store inventory through proper receiving practices i.e. sending and receiving of inbound and outbound product, reporting inventory discrepancies in a timely manner, processing store damages, etc. while following corporate guidelines

  • Train and motivate all associates through on-going programs in store operations, inventory practices, and backroom organization

  • Research and problem solve to identify inventory discrepancies

  • Perform inventory tasks such as correction adjustments, price changes, and stock balancing transfers

  • Coordinate organization efforts with the Store Manager to effectively communicate inventory expectations with the entire staff

  • Build positive working relationships with District Managers, merchandisers, peers, and corporate partners to clarify priorities, share business ideas and best practices

  • Support department coordinators and sales associates by providing guidance and instruction on inventory control

  • Organize and maintain the stock room, storage area, visual area, and bathrooms to ensure they are in line with company standards at all times

  • Order and maintain supplies while adhering to a corporate issued budget

  • Ensure all means of communication in regards to operations are acted upon in a timely fashion

  • Ensure all aspects of the stores IT equipment, i.e. registers and register equipment, computers, electricity and internet control panels, etc., are running up to standards. Work in conjunction with corporate IT team to resolve equipment issues

  • Model World Class Service while assisting customers while on the sales floor

  • Understand, employ and educate The Paper Store safety standards as well as OSHA compliance

  • Support all sales efforts and initiatives across all business channels in an effort to maximize company sales growth by utilizing the Dashboard, participating in sales challenges, daily team meetings, and knowledge of current promotions

  • Capture accurate and valid customer information at the point of sale to support company’s new customer acquisition strategy; including Hallmark Crown Rewards Card sign-ups and Email capture.

  • Perform management functions as expected by the management team; this would include but is not limited to: opening and closing of the store, management functions on point of sale, managing the sales floor during assigned times, coordinating break schedule, etc.

  • Previous experience in specialty retail Inventory control is preferred

  • Proficiency using Microsoft Office POS Systems.

  • Ability to be mobile on the sales floor and/or stock room for extended periods of time.

  • Ability to lift and mobilize medium to large items up to 50 lbs., while utilizing appropriate safety techniques

  • Ability to work a flexible schedule to include nights, weekends, and holidays
