Job Description

The Regional Safety Operations Manager is responsible for the overall Safety, Facility, & Fleet Management in his / her assigned region. He / she will coordinate all activities with the Regional, Branch, & Operation Managers as well as Corporate Operational Leaders to ensure a safe and productive work environment.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Ensure adherence to the Fundamentals of the CRH Fatality Elimination Program

  • Work collaboratively with the Safety Senate and Regional Safety Teams to ensure compliance, communication and continuous improvement in safety standards

  • Conduct job safety analyses; Identify best practices to reduce work process risks, raise safety awareness, and ensure facilities are safe

  • Investigate occupational injuries, vehicle accidents, near-miss incidents; Partner with Branch management in determining root causes, and implement preventive measures

  • Partner with the branches on Operational Efficiencies to control overtime spend and assist in identifying and developing talent within Operations

  • Partner with the Branches and Operations Dept. to develop equipment specs, facility enhancements & maintain safety-related information (i.e.: Truck Binders, SAFR etc.)

  • Assist in managing the Capex Request flow from the field to the Fleet Dept. to ensure equipment and facilities is procured, transferred & disposed of properly.

  • Oversee the Repair & Maintenance Program within the Region

  • Collaboratively coordinate employee safety programs to determine their adequacy, including review of short and long term strategic safety planning and development

  • Works collaboratively with Manager of Casualty Insurance on WC and OSHA reporting process including annual OSHA 300 logs and any emergency reporting

  • Work within company policy as outlined in the Employee Handbook and in compliance with DOT and OSHA Regulations

  • Preparing and delivering annual Performance Reviews for direct reports as required

  • Understanding and enforcing company safety rules to create and maintain a safe work environment (Supervisors/Managers)

  • Understanding and following company safety rules to foster and maintain a safe work environment (Non-Managers)

  • Responsible for training and awareness in the following areas: Telogis, OnPoint, safety laws and regulations, (OSHA / DOT), hazardous condition monitoring, Safety Resource Center awareness, equipment training & certification, new hire training, and post-incident remediation

  • Analyze & make recommendations based on KPI’s provided by Telogis

  • Ensure and facilitate timely incident investigations, audits, inspections and training and all are documented accordingly. (i.e. EDU/VOP, Equipment Training, DVIR, Risk Assessment, etc.)

  • Performs other duties as assigned

Professional Skills/Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Safety Management preferred

  • Construction industry experience a plus

  • 5 + years DOT Compliance experience a plus

  • Ability to build trust and confidence with management and supervision

  • Ability to communicate with all levels of employee - both written and verbal

  • Thorough knowledge of applicable regulations (OSHA)

  • Frequent travel (over the road and air) is required

  • Valid driver’s license is required, CDL preferred

  • OSHA10 Certified preferred

  • Certified Transportation Professional certification a plus

  • Certified as a “Train the Trainer” for fork lift and rough terrain vehicles preferred
