Director, Security Operations
Primary Job Duties & Responsibilities:
Leads the day to day security operations in a 6,000 person campus. Provides direction to contract security service including Global Security Operations Center, Security Officer Operations at three locations and support of Executive Protection operations. Instill a customer focused culture and program throughout the team. Ensure a high level of customer service is provided to employees, visitors and guests at all times. Develop long-term functional goals, set standards for contract providers, measure and report performance. Develops and documents standards for measuring efficiency and effectiveness of security operations. Develops plans, organizes and directs the activities of security personnel and ensures their actions comply with legal and regulatory requirements and meets company, employee and line of business needs. Standardize responses and approaches across the organization. Identify significant security operations risks to business units and functional organizations. Design and implement strategies to reduce the risks and establish communications and relationships with the business units. Plan, coordinate and provide Incident Command direction to security operations for significant events and alarms. Provides senior management with accurate information pertaining to security operations and life safety events affecting corporate personnel and resources. Develops and maintains effective relationships with public safety, law enforcement, intelligence and private sector counterparts. Develops and manages business critical projects and programs with significant financial and/or legal impact on a corporate level. Establishes financial plans and manages to plan. Ensures financial plans are met by managers for all services supported including hardware, software and security service contracts. Develops and implements security operations policies, procedures, standards, training and other methods for identifying and protecting personnel, property and facilities. Deliver security awareness briefings on employee personal safety and security. Review and approve Incident Reports and other communications. Inspire improved performance and problem solving, and assist in identifying career path opportunities. Effectively establishes collaborative relationships and alliances throughout the organization. Serves on senior level intra and inter-corporate committees and working groups. Establishes a work environment that emboldens an atmosphere of professionalism, participation, trust and commitment. Understands and displays key leadership competencies including leading the business, leading self and others. Leads others by modeling the way for the team to follow. Perform other duties as assigned.

Job Specific & Technical Skills & Competencies:

Lead and direct the Hartford security operations staff in identifying, developing, implementing and maintaining strategies and tactics for security operations. This position is responsible for oversight and direction of approximately thirty five contract personnel that staff the Global Security Operations Center, Security Officer positions and support Executive Protection and Internal Investigations functions as required. This position reports to the 2 V.P. Operations but will be actively supporting other Corporate Security functions to include Executive Protection, Internal Investigations, Safety and Systems. [X] This job is a Manager: Responsible for setting work objectives and goals for employees and managing their performance. Typically involved in compensation decisions. Employees have a formal reporting relationship to this job. This job works under General Supervision: Incumbent independently performs a variety of duties, including potentially complex duties within established policy guidelines; responsible for a defined set of assignments (e.g. assigned customers, claims or other specified set of responsibilities); is expected to set priorities and meet specific goals and objectives of the function or unit. (Typically pertains to advanced/operational, senior professional, unit supervisor)
Education, Work Experience & Knowledge:
12 years of experience in the private security arena of similar size, scope and complexity is preferred. Other commensurate leadership experience in law enforcement, intelligence or public sector is acceptable. Ability to build technical expertise, advise on technical matters, and serve as a knowledgeable resource for security operations.

Bachelor's degree required.
