Task Force is a part time position; hours will be scheduled on an “as needed basis.” 8- and 12-hour shifts available. Drive forklift truck equipped with lifting devices such as forklift, fork-grapple, clamps, elevating platform, or trailer hitch, to push, pull, lift, stack, tier, or move raw paper materials and in process products and finished products, equipment, or materials in warehouse, storage yard, or factory. May load and unload semi trailer trucks. Maintain accurate inventory and report any discrepancies. May load or unload materials onto or off of pallets, skids, or lifting device. Perform safety checks on lifts. May lubricate truck, recharge batteries, fill fuel tank, or replace liquefied-gas tank.

Must be skilled in handling controls for starting, stopping, backings, and driving fork lift or clamp truck through aisles in building, up and down ramps, and in and out of railroad cars, trucks, etc.; and, for lifting, lowering, and tilting forks by moving hands, arms, feet, and legs to operate controls. Must know how high, wide, and long the fork lift truck and its load are, and how much the fork lift truck can lift. Good special ability to identify how high and wide a doorway and an aisle must be to drive the fork lift truck and its load; how high and wide the shelf, bin, etc., must be to place the load; and how high the load must be lifted to reach the shelf or bin. Must be able to recognize whether the fork lift truck is able to lift the load and whether the load is properly balanced. Knowledge of the layout of the storage area to be able to find and place items without need for detailed instructions.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Operates Hoist equipment to move materials and/or finished product.

  • Accurately scan containers to ensure system accuracy.

  • Empties trash hoppers and performs other housekeeping duties as needed.

  • Performs routine daily inspections on hoist and assures maintenance needs are reported.

  • Performs daily battery service duties such as inspecting, recharging and replacing batteries.

  • Works with LTS directives to determine where containers are to be moved.

  • Adheres to the requirements of their documented process as defined in the ISO Quality Manual.

  • Adheres to and promotes all safety policies and procedures including but not limited to: the proper handling of hazardous waste, hearing, and eye protection policies.

  • Perform all departmental paperwork as required in a legible and accurate manner. Operate a PC to utilize the COMN system to get job information.

  • Provide instruction, leadership, and guidance to new task force employees or temporary employees.

Required Experience

Requirements

  • Ability to operate a lift truck and related material handling equipment. Must be able to successfully complete the Division Hoist Operator’s Training Program

  • Ability to read and write English and understand/interpret instructions

  • Ability to operate a PC to obtain information and produce documents.

  • Ability to count and perform basic mathematics used in material movement and count control.

  • Ability to perform duties with a minimum of direct supervision in a team environment.

  • Must be able to step up and down from hoist seat level repeatedly. Hearing and eyesight must meet the standards established by the Medical Department for the occupation.

  • Job requires medium and infrequent lifting, long periods of sitting or standing while driving lift truck.

  • Ability to work in a fast-paced manufacturing environment

  • Ability to work a rotating shift, weekends and overtime as needed

  • Must be in good standing with no current final warnings

Preferences

Hoist operator certification and/or previous hoist experience preferred.
