Job Title Calender Operator Day Shift

Assists the Calender Shift Supervisor or Department Head in all aspects of the calender operation. The Calender Operator must follow all the production schedule instructions, the proper Calender Department operational procedures and the production order Bill of Material requirements.
Locates and moves fabric and compound skids if needed.
Hangs fabric roll with proper mandrel at the calender let off. Pulls fabric roll end into the calender. Hangs the leader core on the wind up.
Fastens leader end to the fabric roll end. Loads the uncured rubber strip or slab in the mill. Tends the rubber at warm up mills until rubber
reaches proper consistency.
Sets up adjustable knives against the mill roller to cut continuous strip.
Feeds the milled rubber strip onto the conveyor that carries the strip to the calender.
Helps start and adjust the calender for the proper gauge, speed, temperature and tension.
Verifies thickness and width of rubber coated fabric with gauge and measuring instruments.
Inspects for defects and reports findings. Helps with QC holds and flags problem areas. Sets control of dust box.
Completes and attaches roll identification tag to the completed roll.
Removes the coated fabric roll & delivers it to correct location for next activity.
Completes daily resume card & helps with all required paperwork. Keeps Department clean and safe.
High School Degree or GED equivalent
Previous experience in a machine operator opening in an manufacturing environment
Ability to read blue prints
Ability to operate fork lifts
