This job was posted by : For more information, please see: Goodwill TalentBridge is currently recruiting a temp to hire Candy Cook for a fun client located in North Chicago! This is a first shift position (6am - 2:30pm) and pays $15/hr. This is a prodcution environment, not a restaurant.


Perform all duties associated with the operation of the Kitchen and its accessory equipment including.


This list of duties and responsibilities is not all inclusive and may be expanded to include other duties and responsibilities as management may deem from time to time.

*Food safety or quality responsibilities within job. All staff are responsible for reporting food safety and quality issues to those that can initiate action.

1.Responsible for downloading correct recipe from the kitchen computer per written formula.

2.Responsible for mixing of additional ingredients such as pectin based on written formula using various equipment such as the Breddo Mixer.

3.Cooks ingredients in cookers, following precise temperature and timing requirements as identified in written procedures.

4.When cooking process is finished, signals mogul operator that batch is ready to be dropped.

5.At the end of production runs responsible for the manual transfer of slurry from the weigher, to the tempering and buffering vessels.

6.Maintains written log of each batch of candy processed, recording own name, time, date, starch log number, temperature and refractometer reading, as appropriate.

7.As necessary cleans kettles between batches.

8.Responsible for the production of frappe when making mellocreme production.

9.Inspects all production to ensure compliance with specifications for that particular product. Complete all paperwork which is required, including start-up checklists, batch tickets and other required paperwork.

10.May work in other departments and will perform other duties as assigned.

11.Coordinates production activities with procurement, maintenance, and quality control activities to obtain optimum production and utilization of machines and equipment.

12.Fill in department gaps (manual labor) when short staffed or as needed.

13.*Responsible for the quality of their work and implementation of the food safety/quality procedures applicable to the processes that they perform.

14.*Responsible to report any food safety/quality problems to personnel with authority to initiate action - SQF Practitioner or direct supervisor.

15.The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. The employee must seek assistance on all lifting of over 50 pounds.

High school diploma or general education degree (GED); three (3) to five (5) years prior related work experience or nine (9) months structured on the job training. Educational equivalency acceptable.


Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of employees of organization.


Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ration, and percent.
