A collaborative team environment ensures that our patients receive individualized care in a convenient, cost-effective outpatient setting. uGeneral Summary:/uulliThe Operating Room Registered Nurse is responsible and accountable for providing and directing individualized care on assigned Operating Room patients utilizing the nursing process and established standards of care. This requires assessing, planning, implementing and evaluating the care of patients through clinical knowledge and skills. Assembles appropriate supplies, drapes, instruments, equipment, and sutures for the surgery procedure. Will have the knowledge and experience to perform circulating duties, and willingness to help as needed in patient care areas. Has the understanding and ability to apply principles of surgical asepsis and patient safety. Is able to facilitate the smooth progression of operative procedures and promote teamwork with physicians and personnel. Will treat all customers with actions that contribute to high levels of customer service./liliThis position reports to the Operating Room Coordinator/liliThis position has no direct reports./li/uluEssential Functions and Responsibilities:/uulliConsults and coordinates with health care team members to assess, plan, implement and evaluate the plan of care for patients in the operating room./liliSelects and prepares appropriate supplies for the operative procedure based on knowledge, the information from the preference card and the physician’s plan of care./liliHas a clear understanding of and ability to apply principles of surgical asepsis and patient safety./liliObserves operative procedure closely and anticipates the need of the operative team./liliAnticipates and recognizes special problems as they arise./liliProvide direct and indirect patient care using the nursing process to assess, plan, implement and evaluate patient requirements as directed by the physician; use medical equipment in accordance with standards; demonstrate continued competence in all facets of ambulatory surgery./li/uluREQUIRED/DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS:/uEDUCATION: ulliCurrent Michigan RN license/liliAbility to maintain licensure in the state of Michigan/liliGraduate of accredited School of Nursing/li/ulSPECIALIZED KNOWLEDGE:ulliBCLS required/liliACLS preferred, will train/liliPrevious Circulator experience preferred/liliAmbulatory Surgery experience preferred/li/ulSpecific skills, knowledge and abilities:ulliStrong verbal and written communication skills/liliStrong teaching and collaboration skills/liliPresents a professional appearance/liliHighly organized and self motivated/liliSupport the mission, vision, and values of the organization./liliTreat others and their ideas with respect and dignity./liliSet a good example for others./liliBe an active coach for everyone in the hospital./liliMaintain the highest standards of honesty, integrity, and communication./liliInsist on excellence and be accountable to one another./liliBuild group cohesiveness and pride through teamwork.
