Wire-Cut Operator I JOB DESCRIPTIONS: ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES Identify proper specifications from cut sheets and job orders. Manually and digitally set up wire cutting machines to job specifications. Basic maintenance and trouble shooting of wire cutting machines for proper set up and operation. Inspect products to ensure within specifications. Minimize scrap through proper operation, maintenance, and set up of machines. Use wire cutting machines to cut, strip, and terminate wire and cable for assemblies. Performs tasks in the areas of machine set up, machine operation, and machine general maintenance. May also use manual tools to cut and/or strip wire and cable. Miscellaneous other duties as assigned by supervisor or management. Stripe wire using wire striping machine. PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS The physical requirements described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential duties of this job. Good manual dexterity and hand-eye coordination. Ability to see and differentiate colors. Corrected vision that allows reading of small alphanumeric letters at a distance of 12-18 inches. Ability to lift boxes and spools of wire up to 70 pounds. Ability to work while standing, many tasks requires standing all day. Ability to maintain a brisk pace and meet generally accepted production rates. QUALIFICATIONS High school education. Relevant work experience required. Mechanical skills/knowledge and machine operation experience desirable. Knowledge of wire cutting/terminating machine operation desirable. Mathematical Skills: Ability to convert between fractions and decimal equivalents. Ability to read a ruler to 1/64 of one inch. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
