Highlights:

Candidate will serve as technical/professional subject matterexpert for the Air Force Special Operations Command (AFSOC) Battlefield AirmenOperations (BAO) suite of equipment and systems, including power, computer, RF(including tactical data links), applications, and sensor suites. Participate in MITRE activities with sponsorsat base and site locations, as well as field locations for testing,proof-of-concept, and evaluation. Duties include evaluating and employing advancedtechnology prototyping and technology for the US Air Force or their designatedcontractors for the wearable, integrated BAO Kit system supporting the AFSOCSpecial Tactics (ST)/Joint Tactical Air Controller (JTAC) missions. Identify system requirements, manage systemrisks, assess contractor designs, perform system trade studies, coordinatesystems and interoperability prototyping, coordinate radio interfacesdevelopment and mission capabilities prototyping. Interact with AFSOC operators/customers andsupporting vendor contractors.

Key Functions:

Candidate will serve as a technical subject matter expert and fieldsupporting the BAO Kit and related BAO programs at various phases of theprogram lifecycle.

  • Provide daily on-site support and systems engineeringadvice to the AFSOC sponsor and MITRE team;

  • Engage with the AFSOC operationalBAO customer to add systems engineering best practices to the integration ofnon-developmental capabilities and emerging prototype systems.

  • Provide technical advice to the sponsor forsystems testing, trade studies and capabilities developmentprioritization.

  • Participate as a field engineeringtechnician for BAO and related programs.

  • Maintain awareness of other related programs and technologies such asTAC-P, StrikeLink, Link-16, VMF, CoT, SADL, DACAS, Net Enabled Weapons, and RPAoperations to ensure interoperability issues are addressed and documented.

Qualifications

Five years of technical, hands-on experience inmission networking (RF systems, tactical data links, air-to-groundcommunications, general electronics principles).

Preferred Qualifications:

Experience in systems acquisition, particularlyin human interactive command and control systems, current and emerging tacticalcommunications networks and radios, human systems interfaces (HMI), andwearable computer systems. Experienceinteracting with AFSOC and special operations forces (SOF), close air support(CAS) operations, and air/ground support operations and C2 systems.

Technicalcertificate or college degree in general Systems Engineering principles,computer programming, electronics, radio systems and integration of thesetechnologies.
