Kratos Defense & Security Solutions, Inc. Technician - Indirect Fire Weapon Operator in Ft. Bliss, Texas

Job Descriptions:


  • Works in Government environment supporting test, research, and development of emerging weapons technology.

  • Supports warfighter training and qualification by directly participating in rehearsals, exercises, and other events.

  • Interface with customers in order to determine desired stimulus in test/training environment.


  • Troubleshoot, maintain, operate various US and foreign weapons systems from 60mm - 127mm..

  • Provide highly accurate aerial targets to customers in support of operational assessments, research and development, and testing scenarios.

  • Experience in mapping and surveying necessary to accurately set up launch sites, fire azimuths and impact points.

  • Mathematical competency to convert units of measurement, both foreign and domestic (e.g.-milliradians, degrees, minutes of angle, meters, miles, decimal degrees).

  • Demonstrated knowledge of the principles of indirect fire, trajectories, meteorological effects, fire control, fire commands, and adjusting impacts.

  • Experience in working on a military base, extended hours, and in austere locations.

  • Experience operating military radio systems and familiar with radio net protocols.

  • Answer directly to the Program Manager

  • Safety minded, with previous training in risk management processes, with a working knowledge of risk reduction strategy and mitigations.

  • Customer service minded, able to understand and capture unique customer needs and convey them to supervisor.

  • Proven experience in ammunition and explosives handling, packaging, transport, and storage.


  • Repetitive movement of hands and fingers (i.e., frequent computer use, typing and writing).

  • Frequent sitting.

  • Indoor office environment and/or laboratory environment (potential exposure to hazardous chemicals, odors, hot/cold depending on location).

  • Moving items of up to 50 lbs and lifting to a height of 3 to 4 feet is potentially required (frequency by exact position).

  • Extended hours outside.

  • Long hours standing.

  • Ability to adhere to workplace rules

  • Must possess a secret clearance or have the ability to gain one 

  • Experience working in a classified government facility with DoD systems.

  • Excellent writing and speaking skills


  • Hourly, non-exempt. Part time, on call, as needed

  • 5-10 years experience working in a Test Range environment

  • Travel Required: 75%
