The focus of the role will be on project management and coordination of project teams. The Project Manager will work on challenging initiatives that are among the function’s top priorities, support Legal Operations across the company, and will have significant impact on the Medtronic legal organization. This position leads initiatives across the department and provides project and program management expertise to a wide range of projects including those related to matter management, finance, reporting, and legal operations. To be successful, the incumbent must work well in a matrix environment, be a respected team leader and team member, clearly communicate and deeply collaborate across the entire organization in regard to a wide range of departmental projects. This position reports to the Director of Legal Operations.
Work with Legal partners to plan and execute process improvement and productivity efficiency initiatives
Lead project work streams within large improvement programs and/or lead improvement programs with key partners including:
Actively lead the development and execution of project plans including timelines/schedules, budgets, resources, and anticipated benefits
Collaboratively define project resource requirements and negotiate team assignments with managers, as required
Schedule, prepare and facilitate working team operating mechanisms, ensuring that SMEs and other team members are productively engaged in the process
Maintain oversight of project risks and mitigation plans to ensure business and project objectives are met
Challenge teams to meet and exceed project goals and commitments
Provide routine project status communications to leadership
Act with flexibility and persistence
Work independently as needed with only limited direction to help functions and teams that need support; establish relationships and develop a project plan, calling on the broader Legal Operations team as needed
Work with other legal operations resources (e.g., Vendor Management, Finance, Lean Sigma) to bring specialized capabilities in support of teams to maximize the impact of improvement initiatives
Work with Communications and change management resources to build stakeholder maps, and to engage the broader organization to socialize and build support for project recommendations
Support Legal Operations initiatives including creation and maintenance of process documentation, project management mentoring and training, and process analysis.
Travel requirement: 10-20%
IN ORDER TO BE CONSIDERED FOR THIS POSITION, THE FOLLOWING BASIC QUALIFICATIONS MUST BE EVIDENT ON YOUR RESUME:
- Bachelor’s Degree
YEARS OF EXPERIENCE:
- 5+ years of experience with Project Management
SPECIALIZED KNOWLEDGE REQUIRED:
Experience with Project Management principles, concepts, practices and standards
Experience providing work direction, coaching and guidance to project teams
Experience with Word, Excel, PowerPoint
Advanced degree preferred
PMP, Six Sigma and/or Lean certification preferred
Prior consulting experience
Ability to facilitate team meetings, create and deliver presentations, and drive meetings to action-oriented decisions.
Results oriented. Ability to identify and drive resolution of issues in a proactive, creative, and collaborative manner.
Continually seek opportunities to increase stakeholder holder satisfaction and deepen relationships.
Excellent oral and written communications skills
Experience with business process improvement and support functions,
Proven success in executing projects resulting in measurable productivity enhancement
Confident and assertive style, but respectful of others
Must be team oriented and able to adjust leadership style to maximize effectiveness
