Job Description SummaryThe Director, US Region Operations Excellence (OpEx), will report to the Vice President, US Commercial Operations and will be a member of the Commercial Operations (Comm Ops) Leadership Team (COLT). This Director role will be accountable for the US Region portfolio of commercial projects, programs and initiatives that will be managed and prioritized through a robust Project Portfolio Management (PPM) process supporting all US Business Units (currently excluding Pharmaceutical Systems). A significant portion of this role will be to provide overall Program Management leadership for all US Region integration activities, ensuring that US Region integration workstreams are kept on track, issues quickly addressed, interdependencies understood and all Integration Management Office (IMO) deliverables and revenue/cost synergy tracking requirements are met. Additional responsibilities include managing a portfolio of Continuous Improvement (CI) projects for the region as well as projects in support of the formation of the new Comm Ops CoE, developing team KPI’s and leading projects related to harmonization of processes/policies as well as deployment of enabling tools and technologies.
This role is expected to possess strong process improvement, project/program and change management expertise and people leadership while ensuring that the US Region strategy is enabled through strong OpEx capabilities. This position will lead the US Region OpEx team and will work closely with the BD US Region Leadership Team (USRLT), Comm Ops COLT and cross-functional Business Partners. In addition, this role will work closely with the US Region Operations Excellence Council that is chaired by the VP, Comm Ops and VP, Supply Chain ensuring that commercial, supply chain, quality and channel management projects are coordinated and interdependencies understood. A further responsibility of this role will be to support the VP, Comm Ops in organizing and facilitating US Region Leadership Team meetings ensuring that relevant topics and issues are understood and addressed in this forum.
This role will lead a team of 4-6 Project Management associates and be accountable for the OpEx budget as part of overall Commercial Operations.
Set the OpEx overall vision and strategy and establish mechanisms to realize the strategy and communicate broadly across Comm Ops and with US Region stakeholders.
Actively contribute to US Region strategy development by virtue of the cross-functional, region-wide view of the role and support the USRLT to enable execution of the overall region strategy.
Establish and maintain Project/Program management practices, processes, tools and reporting for the region in the following areas:
Lead all US Region commercial program/project activities including support of integration related workstreams/sub-workstreams with project management resources (both internal and external resources), coordination and facilitation of all program cadence meetings, management of program interdependencies, risks, resources and budget, periodic status updates across all workstreams and development of communications for stakeholders at various levels of the organization. Lead the development and submittal of all IMO-related deliverables and revenue/cost synergy tracking for current CFN and future Bard integration activities.
With the Comm Ops Leadership Team, prioritize and resource projects/continuous improvement initiatives necessary to establish a best-in-class Commercial Operations capability for the region
Set direction and provide leadership for continuous improvement and integration related project coordination as needed for other US Region functions/BUs via project portfolio management methodologies
Provide support to the US Region Operations Excellence Council that is chaired by the VP, Comm Ops and VP, US Region Supply Chain ensuring that commercial, supply chain, quality and channel management projects are coordinated and interdependencies understood. Work in partnership with other PMOs to ensure a common understanding of all US Region related projects.
Support the VP, Comm Ops in organizing and facilitating US Region Leadership Team (USRLT) meetings ensuring that relevant topics and issues are understood and addressed in this forum.
Develop and maintain strong partnerships and collaboration mechanisms with other BD PMOs (SC PMO, ePMO, BPM team, etc.) to share best practices and ensure alignment of common program/project management practices and tools.
As a member of the COLT, actively participate in the ongoing leadership of the Comm Ops COE leading various initiatives and/or tasks required to support the overall Comm Ops strategic plan and contribute to further development of the strategy.
Serve as line manager of 4-6 personnel: attract, develop, and retain talent, helping to guide career paths and driving employee satisfaction.
Seek out, coach, and mentor high potential staff for rotational roles to develop next generation of Comm Ops leaders.
