Position Overview

Operates heavy equipment to pave asphalt.

  • Roller Operator: Crew Member essential to the application of asphalt on highways, private roadways, parking lots, and driveways through the usage of roller equipment/power broom. Drives heavy rolling machine to compact earth fills, subgrades, flexible base and bituminous surface to grade specifications.

Key Responsibilities (Essential Duties and Functions)

  • Operate Paver, Roller, and/or Loader.

  • Assist labor crew including shoveling, raking and compacting of asphalt materials

  • Routinely assist other members of the work force in different areas of production


To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Education/Experience

  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED) preferred.

  • Previous asphalt paving operations and/or construction related experience highly preferred.

  • Grade or pave experience with understanding of grading, drainage, survey staking, and asphalt compaction highly preferred.

Knowledge/Skill Requirements

  • Safety minded professional who demonstrates good performance, attendance and punctuality.

  • Demonstrates the ability to work independently, without direct supervision.

  • Demonstrates the ability to operate equipment under temperature extremes and for extended hours of time

  • Demonstrates the ability to withstand common vibratory motion associated with operation of most roller equipment and occasionally rough terrain.

  • Demonstrates the ability to flexible with last minute schedule, location, and time of shift changes.

  • Demonstrates the willingness to work overtime and weekends/holidays.

  • Demonstrates the willingness to learn and work a variety of job tasks.

  • Demonstrates excellent communication and customer service skills.
