This position is a highly technical security professional providing advanced packet analysis, advanced cyber security forensics, developing mitigation strategies, and design of complex security systems. Will have advanced working knowledge of a wide technology skill set with a focus on advanced security concepts. The candidate will demonstrate an incredibly high aptitude in all Akamai related products and utilize their skills in leading, developing and training an advance security operations unit. As a Senior Security Operations Center Specialist you will be responsible for:

  • Perform advanced packet analysis to identify complex attack vectors

  • Perform investigations relating to security forensics

  • Development and Implementation of highly complicated mitigation strategies

  • Perform advanced customer traffic security analysis

  • Troubleshoot advanced platform and customer integration issues while under attack

  • Provide customer communications relating to advanced security events

  • Develop advanced network troubleshooting workflows related to security

  • Assist with the development, testing and implementation of mitigation strategies

  • Assist with the development, testing and implementation of security products (i.e. hardware software)

Required Education and Experience

Applicants must meet one of the following education and experience requirements:

  • 5 years of relevant experience and a Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, MIS, another related field or its equivalent or

  • 3 years of relevant experience and a Master’s degree Computer Science, Engineering, MIS, another related field or

  • Relevant experience and a PhD

Required Skills

  • 5 years in an IT role

  • Minimum of 3 years experience in a customer support, help desk or call center role

  • 3 year of experience in an information security based role

Desired Skills

  • 2 network or systems administration certifications

  • Must be ready to come to a place where you are free to innovate, collaborate and shape how the world lives, works and plays

  • Packet ninjas are welcome

  • Hungry individuals with advanced knowledge of scripting or programming languages a plus

  • Kung-fu knowledge of various security packages, tools, cyber attack types & security concepts

  • Advanced knowledge of tcpdump using Berkley Packet Filters, tshark, and Wireshark traffic analyzing tools like a mad scientist

  • Do you know what OWASP is?

  • Knows how to stop evil in its tracks with IDS/IPS, WAF, and other basic firewall security concepts

  • CEH, CCNA, CCNP, RHCT, Linux+ or any advanced Forensic or Security GIAC certification

  • SQUID is not something used for bait.

  • Should be highly analytical and have the ability to quickly identify, replicate & resolve customer reported issues

  • Must have the desire to think faster and move forward!

  • Advanced knowledge of Akamai’s DNA
