This position is a technical security professional providing rapid response attack detection, basic packet analysis, and intermediate network troubleshooting. Need working knowledge of a wide technology skill set including a focus on security essentials. This role has a heavy customer communications component. The candidate should demonstrate aptitude to learn all Akamai related products and expand skills in packet analysis, attack detection, & mitigation.

Responsibilities

  • Perform deep packet analysis to identify DDoS/DoS attack vectors and security threats

  • Perform telemetry monitoring to identify new DDoS/DoS attacks or platform issues

  • Provide customer communications relating to Security events

  • Monitor and respond to all required operational support system events

  • Identify intermediate network connectivity and routing issues and escalate appropriately

  • Troubleshoot platform and customer integration issues

  • Respond to non-emergency tickets based on their priority

  • Triage emergency tickets accordingly

Required Education and Experience

  • Minimum 2 years of experience and a Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Engineering, MIS, another related technical field or it's equivalent.

Required Skills

  • 1 year in an IT role or equivalent course work

  • 1 year of experience in a customer support, help desk, call center role or equivalent coursework

  • 1 year of experience in an information security based role or equivalent coursework

  • Working knowledge of network protocols & topologies, with concentration in internet communications & web technologies

Desired Skills

  • 2 network or systems administration certifications

  • Be ready to come to a place where you are free to innovate, collaborate and shape how the world lives, works and plays

  • Packet ninjas are welcome

  • Working knowledge of tcpdump, tshark, or Wireshark traffic analyzing tools like a junior scientist

  • Do you know what OWASP is?

  • Familiar with stopping evil in its tracks with IDS/IPS, WAF, and other basic firewall security concepts

  • CEH, CCNA, CCNP, RHCT, Linux+ or any GIAC certification

  • SQUID is not something used for bait.

  • Be highly analytical and have the ability to quickly identify, replicate & resolve customer reported issues

  • Kung-fu knowledge of various security packages, DoS & DDoS attack types & an awareness of the white hat/black hat/grey hat communities and tools used by its members

  • Knowledge of Akamai’s DNA

  • Have the desire to think faster and move forward!
