General Summary- Operates and maintains one or more systems which provide an establishmentwith such services as heat, air-conditioning (cool, humidify,dehumidify, filter, and circulate air) refrigeration, steam orhigh-temperature water or electricity.Essential Duties and Responsibilities:- Observes and interprets readings on gauges, meters and charts whichregister various aspects of the system's operation.- Adjusts controls to insure safe and efficient operation of the system and tomeet demands for the service provided.- Records in logs various aspects of the system's operation.- Keeps the engines, machinery and equipment of the system in good workingorder.- May direct and coordinate activities of other workers in performing tasksdirectly related to operating and maintaining the system or systems.- Willingness to work as an assistant to the service order division onrenovation projects.Knowledge, Experience and Skill Requirements- Minimum of 2 years of experience as a stationary engineer or related field.- Individuals performing operations, repairs, maintenance, modificationsand installations of the HTHW Plant pressure vessels shall be qualified"Boiler Operators" possessing and maintaining a current "OperatingEngineer" or equivalent license approved by the COR. This license shall be aNational Institute for the Uniform Licensing of Power Engineers (NIULPE)Fourth Class Engineer or equivalent as approved by the COR.- Must be able to pass the Federal background check required for this jobsite.- Ability to perform work safely under hazardous conditions.- Able to trouble shoot and repair most complex problems.- Better than average knowledge of computer software programs to includeWord, Excel, Power Point and Outlook required.- Excellent oral and written communication skills.- High School Graduate, technical or trade school certificate in relatedfield desired.- Basic construction knowledge.- Ability to read blueprintsWork Environment- Must be able to lift 50 lbs., squat, bend, stoop and kneel for shortperiods, climb a ladder, stand for long periods of time, constant armextension- Occasional exposure to elements such as heat, cold, noise, dust,dirt, chemicals, but none to the point of being disagreeable.
