Solutions By Design II, LLC Application Operations Lead in Fairfax, Virginia

The Application Operations (AO) Lead shall manage system operations of large scale, web application across a complex network infrastructure and a variety of hardware and software platforms. Using an assortment of tools and methods, the Application Operations Lead shall proactively analyze, monitor and ensure system resources are used in an efficient and cost effective manner. Ensure production availability and processing schedules are met according to the service level agreements (SLAs) stated in the statement of work (SOW). The AO Lead provides users with application output and the ability to provide ad hoc business requests such as data reports, screening reports, cross-system data analyses and inquiries within a timely manner without compromising services. The AO Lead will coordinate operations supporting the application infrastructure, Service Desk Support, and end users and communications.

As part of our Agile team, this role includes managerial oversight and participation to establish a development operations (DevOps) environment to ensure system deployment consistency through multiple environments up to and including production. This role will include code deployment management, organization with other government contractors to schedule releases/deployments in accordance with agency guidelines.

Verbal and Written communication and organization skills are keys for this position, along with a problem-solution attitude.

Ultimately, you should be able to ensure all aspects of the system (including the database) run effectively, efficiently, and securely on a 24/7 basis.

Responsibilities:
Manages computer and application operations of large scale, web application across complex network infrastructure and variety of hardware (HW) and software (SW) platforms
Accountable for the operation of mission critical 24x7 IT infrastructure including data center operations, application virtualization and enterprise monitoring tools.
Uses various tools and methods, proactively analyzes, monitors, and confirms computer system resources usage efficiently and cost effectively
Confirms production availability and processing schedules meet Service Level Agreements (SLAs)
Coordinates operations staff supporting application infrastructure
Design stable, reliable and effective deployment processes across multiple technical environments that are aligned with government SLAs.
Provide oversight and leadership support for all hardware installation activities, including process improvements, environment preparation, and production support.
Participate in Data Migration strategy and implementation.
Solve database usage issues and malfunctions
Liaise with developers to improve DevOps best practices
Establish and maintain system performance metrics reported to the team and to the government
Coordinate and collaborate with other contractors on deployment schedule
Oversee outsourced partner teams to provide world class support to enable business continuity
Effective management of notification and escalation during outages and close collaboration with other IT teams are key
Delivery of an exceptional Customer Service experience for incident and service request management
Manage the infrastructure operational budget for application operations.

Skills/Qualifications (Required):
To be considered for this role, candidates must have:
7+ years progressively increasing experience in software development
3+ years experience managing applications and related deployment processes
3+ years experience in Cloud environment with application virtualization
2+ years experience in Agile delivery environment
1+ years experience with DevOps and continuous integration
In-depth understanding of industry standards for data management (e.g. permissions, recovery, security and monitoring)
Knowledge of software development and user interface web applications
Hands on experience with SQL and development of stored procedures.
Excellent analytical and organization skills
An ability to understand front-end users requirements and a problem-solving attitude
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Required Education: Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science or relevant field
Required Years of Experience: 10+
Working on a large team (50+) desired
Working with a CMS project and familarity with CMS deployment processes desired
System modernization project experience desired
