The Opportunity

Reporting to the UK&I Tax Service Line Operations Director (SLOD), the purpose of this influential support role is to leverage one or more Sub Service Line Leaders in the leadership of their business unit by taking many of the day to day business decisions and participating in the development and execution of the Sub-Service Line’s strategy.

The job will also include supporting UK&I Tax leadership in delivering its ambitious growth strategy as well as the transformation required through digital disruption.

Your key responsibilities

The core accountabilities are delivering the Sub-Service Line’s’ Financial Year scorecard as well as its strategic priorities (e.g. Market Leadership Plans, Digital disruption). In particular delivering the in year Plan (i.e. TNR and GM (£, % and PP) targets) and other important goals as agreed with key stakeholders (e.g. Tax COO, Tax SLOD and the Sub Service Line Leader).

Business Performance

  • Evaluate performance against Financial Plan targets and key performance drivers (e.g. Price, CHPPW, etc) - identify issues in a timely manner and propose and execute actions in response.

  • Update leadership (at all levels) on performance, proposing and agreeing actions

  • Active participation in the performance management of the Sub Service Line Partners (e.g. LBLs, PSRs etc)

  • Identify and drive strategic and business improvement initiatives, resolving any complex challenges and ensuring the changes implemented are sustained.

  • Lead the yearly annual strategic and financial planning processes (e.g. Market Leadership Plans, FY Plans, Q2 forecasts and other reforecasting

  • Drive operational support teams to deliver service levels required for the business to succeed and meets its targets including:

  • Working Capital - improvement in Revenue Days

  • Resourcing – forecasting accuracy and redeployment to maximise utilisation

  • Recruitment – aligned with and responsive to business needs throughout the recruitment pipeline

  • Talent – effective support of the business in management of poor performers

Outlook

  • Analyse sales and pipeline performance and other outlook indicators to assess impact on future trading and Plan targets - identify, propose and execute actions in response

  • Update leadership (at all levels) on performance and agree actions

  • Ensure that sales and pipeline data quality is fit for purpose

People

  • Drive recruitment planning, identifying and approving searches and offers so that recruitment promptly enables the Sub-Service Line to meet its targets

  • Together with the Talent function, execute the yearly pay and review process including communication strategy

  • Oversee the execution of a robust Performance Development & Management Process (PDMP)

Other

  • Miscellaneous operational, tactical and strategic projects upon request, which may be wider than specific sub service line(s). This will include Mercury and Simplification

  • Financially literate "finishers", who can demonstrate a highly commercial approach
