Due to high levels of demand from our clients for our services, we are continuing to grow our Capital Markets team within EY FSO Advisory. We help our top tier investment banking clients with the major transformational changes they are undertaking following the financial crisis, spanning business model, entity structure, operating model, processes, data and technology architecture. We advise our clients on their most pressing issues, including implementation of regulatory change, control enhancements, efficiency improvements and business opportunities.

EY has a dedicated Financial Services organisation and we look to hire people with specific sector knowledge, as well as project delivery skills, in order to best advise our clients. To meet our aggressive growth plans, we are looking for motivated individuals with extensive experience in capital markets, able to work with leading global clients at senior levels, spanning all areas of their business, and liaise with colleagues across EY’s full range of service lines to provide comprehensive solutions. Candidates will have demonstrable experience of regulatory processes within investment banks, an ability to think of creative solutions to problems, and a successful track record of project delivery.

Our team analyses, designs, recommends and implements performance improvement solutions for the full spectrum of products and functions within the capital markets industry. Assignments include:


  • Analysis and implementation of changes driven by global regulatory reform (notably including MiFID II, FRTB, EMIR, BCBS 239 and structural reform)

  • Front to back business process transformation

  • Target Business and Operating Model design and implementation (including changes to booking models and legal entity strategy)

  • Assessment and enhancement of controls and operational risk framework

  • Large scale project and programme management

  • Change programmes targeted at specific functions or services, including:

  • Client onboarding

  • Transaction reporting

  • Settlements and payments

  • Clearing

  • Collateral management/optimisation

  • Capital and liquidity management

  • Market risk

  • Credit risk

  • Digital transformation

  • Fintech disruption and disintermediation


Your responsibilities as a Senior Consultant:

  • High quality delivery on a client assignment, usually as part of an on-site project team

  • Developing strong relationships with our clients

  • Identifying opportunities for new business

  • Aiding proposals and bid teams

  • Assisting in developing EY solutions and supporting tools and methods

  • Supporting EY practice and people development activities (e.g. recruitment, away days)

  • Liaising with service line teams, account teams and functional specialists

To be successful in this role, you will require the following:

Industry Experience

  • Successful track record in the capital markets industry, gained through a top tier consultancy (Big 4, IBM, Accenture etc), a specialist financial services consultancy, within the Compliance or Control function of a top tier bank or PRA/FCA

  • Good appreciation of current market trends in Capital Markets

  • Good understanding of one or more capital markets product areas (including OTC and exchange traded / listed derivatives, equity and fixed income securities, repo / stock lending, commodities and FX)

  • Analysis and implementation of changes driven by global regulatory reform

  • Practical knowledge of FCA and PRA regulatory requirements for core Capital Markets

  • Knowledge or experience of at least one of the following;

  • Target Business and Operating Model design and implementation (including changes to booking models and legal entity strategy) to support regulatory requirements

  • Assessment and enhancement of Compliance and Operational Risk framework

  • Change programmes targeted at specific functions or services, including:

  • Conduct Risk

  • Client Assets

  • Best Execution

  • Transaction and regulatory reporting

  • Conflict Management

  • Front Office – Trading venues (exchanges, MTFs, dark pools), front office controls, transparency

  • Operational risk and control frameworks

  • Large scale project and programme management

  • Data architecture/data science

  • Trade and transaction reporting

  • Market risk/market risk technology

  • Operating Model Design - Target Operating Model, Organisational Design, Functional Architecture, Locational Model, Application Architecture, Sourcing Models, Onshoring / Offshoring, Industry Utility Models

  • Process Improvement - Business Process Re-engineering (BPR), Business Process Management (BPM), Workflow, Exception Processing, Process Control Review and Design, Six Sigma, Lean, Process Modelling, Process Metrics

  • Business Requirements Definition - Functional Requirements Definition, Use Case Definition, Business Analysis

  • Business Case Design – Cost / Benefit Analysis, Numeric Analysis, Scenario Analysis

  • Project Management – Project / programme planning, estimation, prioritisation, stakeholder management, reporting and management of risks, issues and dependencies


  • A first level university degree, 2:1 (or equivalent) or above
