Due to high levels of demand from our clients for our services, we are continuing to grow our Capital Markets team within EY FSO Advisory. We help our top tier investment banking clients with the major transformational changes they are undertaking following the financial crisis, spanning business model, entity structure, operating model, processes, data and technology architecture. We advise our clients on their most pressing issues, including implementation of regulatory change, control enhancements, efficiency improvements and business opportunities.

EY has a dedicated Financial Services organisation and we look to hire people with specific sector knowledge, as well as project delivery skills, in order to best advise our clients. To meet our aggressive growth plans, we are looking for motivated individuals with extensive experience in capital markets operations, able to work with leading global clients at senior levels, spanning all areas of their business, and liaise with colleagues across EY’s full range of service lines to provide comprehensive solutions. Candidates will have demonstrable experience of regulatory processes within investment banks, an ability to think of creative solutions to problems, and a successful track record of project delivery.


Our team analyses, designs, recommends and implements performance improvement solutions for the full spectrum of products and functions within the capital markets industry. Assignments, which may include:

  • Analysis and implementation of changes driven by global regulatory reform

  • Practical knowledge of FCA and PRA regulatory requirements for core Capital Markets

  • Target Business and Operating Model design and implementation (including changes to booking models and legal entity strategy) to support regulatory requirements

  • Assessment and enhancement of Compliance and Operational Risk framework

  • Change programmes targeted at specific functions or services, including:

  • Conduct Risk

  • Client Assets

  • Best Execution

  • Transaction and regulatory reporting

  • Conflict Management

  • Compliance improvement and transformation

  • Front Office Compliance control framework

Your responsibilities as a Senior Manager:

  • Management of one or more client engagements, with responsibility for quality of delivery as well as engagement financials

  • Developing long term trusted advisor relationships with our clients

  • Taking leading role in development of EY solutions and supporting tools and methods

  • Building and leading high performing teams

  • Demonstrating in depth knowledge and experience in one or more market areas and technical skills

  • Identifying and leading pursuit of opportunities for new business

  • Leading EY practice and people development activities (e.g. recruitment, counselling)

  • Liaising with EY service line teams, account teams and functional specialists


To be successful in this role, you will require the following:

Industry Experience

  • Successful track record in the capital markets industry, gained through senior roles in a top tier consultancy (Big 4, IBM, Accenture etc), a specialist financial services consultancy, a top tier bank or financial markets infrastructure firm

  • In depth knowledge of current market trends in Capital Markets

  • Broad knowledge of the spectrum of capital markets product areas (including OTC and exchange traded derivatives, equity and fixed income securities, commodities and FX) and in depth expertise in at least one area

  • Excellent understanding of regulatory requirements and relevant control processes for capital markets participants (broker/dealers, asset managers, prime brokers, custodians, market infrastructure)

  • Experience of key investment bank functional areas, including client onboarding, front office, trading venues, confirmations, settlements, capital and liquidity management, asset servicing, trade management, prime services, trade / transaction reporting, clearing, collateral management, operational risk and controls, operational metrics

  • Ability to manage multiple senior stakeholder communities with varying levels, experiences and agendas

  • Maximize team performance - accountability for ensuring a collaborative and committed way for teams to work effectively together, providing coaching and leadership, and sharing knowledge

  • Intellectual strength / flexibility to rapidly understand complex problems and rationalise these into a workable solution which can then be delivered

  • High level of drive, commitment to achieving solutions, and ability to work under pressure

  • Ability to develop impactful written presentations and confidently run meetings with senior clients

  • Ability to work under limited supervision (‘self starter’) in unstructured environments

  • Excellent graduate level educationTechnical Skills Leadership experience in one or more of the following areas is essential:

  • Risk and Regulatory – MiFID I and II, EMIR, Dodd Frank, Volcker, FRTB, CSDR / T2S, FATCA / FTT / CRS, KYC / AML, RRP, Client assets, Best Execution, Investor Protection

  • Front Office – Trading venues (exchanges, MTFs, dark pools), front office controls, transparency

  • Investment Bank Compliance Advisory

  • FCA/PRA Wholesale supervision

  • Capital Markets Front Office controls

  • Trade and transaction reporting


  • A first level university degree, 2:1 (or equivalent) or above
