Job Title:IT Field Service Engineer - Mobile Environmental Laboratory OperationJob ID:23680Location:NJ - EdisonFull/Part Time:Full-TimeRegular/Temporary:RegularResponsibilities(General) Assists with the acquisition, installation, maintenance, and usage of networks that typically link numerous computing platforms, operating systems, and network topologies across widely dispersed geographic areas. Troubleshoots and resolves problems of moderate complexity to ensure minimal disruption of mission-critical applications. Drafts network policies and procedures regarding access methods and time, and security validation checks. Maintains network security; ensures that security procedures are implemented and enforced.Installs and maintains network monitoring systems; performs intrusion detection as needed. Assists with monitoring network performance, maintains fault-tolerant systems and manages system backups. Provides technical support and training to end-users. Maintains current knowledge of relevant hardware and software applications. Evaluates new hardware and software for networks to determine which products best meet organization/customer needs.(Site Specific) Installs, troubleshoots, and maintains the laboratory LIMS system and the laboratory IT products/equipment. Plans, analyze, design, install, test and maintain information systems and networks including hardware (servers, hubs, bridges, switches, and routers) and software (server and desktop) that permits the sharing and transmission of information. Analyze and defines network requirements, maintains network architectures and infrastructures. Configures and optimize network servers, hubs, routers and switches. Ensures information system and network design incorporates redundancy and data backup. Conducts system security evaluations, audits, and reviews in accordance with applicable guidelines. Assess security events to determine impact and implement corrective action. Trains employees, identifies, analyzes, and repairs product failures, orders and replaces parts as needed. Determines and recommends which products or services best fit the customers' needs.QualificationsAccredited Bachelors degree in related discipline plus 4 to 6 years of directly related experience. Professional certification(s) may be required.In some cases, educational requirements may be adjusted or waived for more than 8 years applicable work experience. Work experience may be adjusted for highly specialized knowledge or uniquely applicable experience for positions involving new technology or labor market shortages as reflected by market survey data.Experience in a laboratory setting, and specifically, experience with EPA, methods, regulations and policies is preferred. Experience with Promium LIMS is preferred. Excellent verbal and written communications skills and attention to detail are mandatory. Relies on experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals. Performs a variety of tasks. A wide degree of creativity and latitude is expected.
