Job Description:

3M is seeking a Production Operator for the Abrasives Systems Division located in Detroit, MI. At 3M, you can apply your talent in bold ways that matter. Here, you go.

Job Summary:

The person hired for the position of Production Operator will work in the converting department.

Primary Responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:

  • Sets-up, operates, monitors and adjusts the Reamer in an efficient manner, without inducing defects as per process standards and instructions

  • Adjusts and/or changes fly knife, bed knife and slitter blades to achieve proper cutting quality

  • Adjusts guide rolls, breaker bar, flexor, spreader roll, etc. in order to optimize quality and productivity

  • Visually inspects product quality continuously and dispositions substandard product appropriately - inclusive of communicating to the packers as needed

  • Performs all QC sheet size measurements, packaging/labeling checks, and sheet/sleeve quantity checks

  • Packs and sorts sheets

  • Achieves productivity and run-time targets

  • Moves semi-finished and finished product as required

  • Completes all reports and paperwork as needed

  • Reads and understands all associated documents

  • Uses computer terminals/systems as required

  • Observes all S/H/E rules and practices

  • Maintains good housekeeping

This position will require:

  • Frequent physical demands including bending, reaching, and lifting up to 50 lbs.

This position may require:

  • Weekend work

  • Working overtime

  • Short notice shift coverage

  • Working 1st Shift (8 to 10 hours/day)

Basic Qualifications:

  • Possess a High School Diploma/GED or higher

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Basic computer skills

  • Two (2) years of manufacturing experience

Location: Detroit

Relocation: Is not authorized
