A Day in the Life of a Print Operator:

The Print Operator is responsible for all incoming production orders, including print production, finishing, and preparation for mailing. They will be responsible for maintaining equipment, review work orders, running samples, getting approvals on orders as dictated by delivery objectives.

Responsibilities:

  • Loading paper in digital press and offline finishing equipment

  • Calibration

  • Resolve paper jams

  • Resolve and fix issues with print quality

  • Regular quality control check of output to maintain quality standards set by the company

  • Preparation of output for delivery to offsite mail house

  • Handle and satisfactorily answer all complaints in connection with delivery delays, order errors and quality problems

  • Correct interpretation and use of all products from knowledge training and by use of actual product samples and product description manuals

  • Work with supervisor & Communication Dept. on files and/or artwork needed, new products, creating new forms, etc.

  • Assist with mailroom, sorting and delivery of mail, postage and shipping service communications when needed

  • Assist with production planning; scheduling, estimating and processing of orders to meet delivery objectives

  • Assist with training for new and existing employees

  • Keep storage rooms organized and monitor inventory of paper, toner, and misc. supplies on a weekly basis

  • Learn and use work order system (ChangePoint) to enter and edit, apply time, and change location of job in production

  • Learn basics on mailroom responsibilities to cover other staff when out

  • Ensure support and schedule maintenance of the digital press

  • Communicate production delays and potential issues to management/supervisor

Qualifications:

What you can bring to Meridian:

  • High school diploma is required

  • 3 years related experience and/or training in a print production environment

  • PC experience is required

  • Demonstration of mechanical aptitude is required

  • Basic computer knowledge and general office operations

  • Knowledge of digital print equipment and processes

  • Computer literate in a graphic arts environment preferred

  • Knowledge of postage rates and prior use of postage meter preferred
