The Investment Operations Extended Internship is the perfect opportunity to gain real world experience in a dynamic setting within Principal Global Investors (PGI). Principal Global Investors is a premier global asset management firm with over \$400 Billion in assets under management (6/30/16).

This extended internship works directly with the data integrity of our investment information. Maintaining accurate information about our investment ownership and capital availability is essential. That's where you come into play. During this extended internship you will work with a highly qualified team to maintain the accuracy of this information. This will include compiling reports on investment performance, reconciling bank accounts,supporting lifecycle of a trade, troubleshooting data inaccuracies and working on various projects determined by the needs of our business.

You must be available to work full time in Des Moines, IA from January - August OR May - December 2018.


  • Candidates must be working toward a degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics or equivalent (with an interest in investments)

  • Applicants must have a minimum of 1 semester of schooling remaining post-internship in order to be considered for this role

  • Excellent problem solving, analytical, organizational, and communication skills required

  • Candidates must possess strong computer skills including experience with MS Word, Excel, and willing to learn various operational systems.

  • Must be able to work in fast-paced environment and be able to meet deadlines

  • The ideal candidate will be willing to take on new tasks and look for ways to improve processes or reporting effectiveness

  • Assertiveness and attention to detail are key to this area of our company
