    Located in PPG’s Automotive Refinish plant in Delaware, OH, the Operations Manager, Paint, is responsible for ensuring safe and productive operations of the Paint Manufacturing Areas and to meet customer requirements of delivery, quality and consistency. The Operations Manager, Paint, manages all aspect of the facility, operations and employees related to Paint. The Operations Manager, Paint will implement and monitor performance indicators including reports related to cost variance, production, quality, safety and environmental performance.

Key Responsibilities:

Safety – Ensure safety of all employees in via routine training, involvement in EHS teams and effective communications with employees to implement any required changes. The role is accountable to ensure the facility complies with applicable governmental regulations and organizational policies and procedures to facilitate the safe and environmentally friendly operation of the facility.

Operations - Ensure production to meet required business levels, OTIF and expectations by managing the plant scheduling, execution, staffing and work with the sales teams for efficiency. The role is accountable for integrating operations with other functional areas within the plant to ensure production schedules are accomplished within established procedures and set budgets as well as ensuring product is manufactured in accordance with quality control standards.

Costs – Manage productivity and cost effectiveness by proactively identifying and implementing LEAN principles, execution of initiatives developed by the team and managing staffing all to ensure CPU metrics are achieved. Focus on efforts for SSPL controls and minimizing waste to ensure costs. The incumbent will be responsible for the monthly budget and financial results of the paint operations.

Projects and Strategy – To meet continuous improvement and capital project needs, this role will have key responsibility to work with Engineering, Sales and Management to identify and implement continued capital investments and expansion to meet long term strategies.

People Management – The position is a lead for all employees in the facility to ensure daily accountability, developmental plans and ensuring execution of employee programs, such as Your Say and committees, for employee satisfaction and motivation to optimize productivity. The incumbent will also personally interact with the Union’s Leadership team or their representatives to resolve any outstanding issues and provide preliminary guidance to supervisors on contract compliance and interpretation.

External Responsibilities – The position coordinates efforts with global manufacturing and technical organizations to ensure consistency of product performance and specifications. The position also is visible contact to the business supply chain and sales teams for global waterborne support and strategy.


Minimum Requirements and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering, business administration or relevant field of study

  • Previous Management experience in manufacturing operations is required

  • Demonstrated leadership skills and effective communications is a must
