Manager Sales Operations

This leadership role is responsible for managing sales support activities to improve the execution and effectiveness of our Sales and Sales Operations organizations. This position will play a key role in charge of leading process and system changes in the course of making the support of Sales Management and Sales Reps more efficient and productive.

Qualifications:

  1. Bachelor's degree in business/finance or equivalent experience, MBA preferred

  2. 7-10 years experience in project management or operations/support, preferably supporting a sales organization

  3. 7-10 years experience in Finance or business analysis

  4. 5+ years of proven leadership or managerial experience

  5. Proficient with analytical software including Excel & Access

  6. Understanding and expertise in computer hardware and software including Windows XP, Outlook, PowerPoint, Word, and the Internet

  7. Strong analytical experience including budgeting, trend analysis, business modeling

  8. Excellent oral and written communication skills including presentation skills

  9. Strong business and financial acumen

  10. Experience working in a highly complex matrixed corporate environment

  11. Strong problem solving and influencing skills

  12. Knowledge of LexisNexis organization, systems and processes is a plus

Accountabilities:

  1. Oversees the development of appropriate incentive and variable compensation plans designed to drive appropriate behavior of sales professionals to achieve specific objectives.

  2. Partners closely with others within Sales Operations, finance, commissions, segments, and marketing to effectively manage key projects and deliverables in support of the sales organization and the defined sales strategy.

  3. Oversees all commission programs are effectively and accurately implemented in a way that drives increased revenue for the business and is within the commission budget.

  4. Partners with sales leaders in the development, consolidation and communication of appropriate bonus plans including measuring the effectiveness of such programs.

  5. Primary areas of focus include assisting in the management, problem resolution, implementation, facilitation and consolidation of commission design, goaling, reporting and implementing organizational change.

  6. Participates on company-wide teams to ensure that Sales needs are represented and that Sales dependencies are addressed.

  7. Performs needed trend analysis to support/help drive sales implementation of compensation plan, incentive and goaling strategies. Tracks progress against VC plans and incentives - providing monthly, quarterly and annual reports

  8. Develops and facilitates various programs and productivity enhancement tools to specifically support sales

  9. Attracts, recruits, and retains top talent. Motivates and leads a high performance sales operations team.

  10. Provides leadership and management to ensure adoption and practice of the Reed Elsevier core values.

  11. Defines measurable expectations of each role within the team and evaluates performance against expectations of all staff.

  12. Other duties as assigned
