Operations Manager, Security Officer Division

Job Summary:

The primary responsibility of this position is to manage all operational activities involved with providing contract physical security services to clients.

Essential Functions and Responsibilities:

  • Perform client contact as requested by the Physical Security General Manager and complete associated reports in a timely manner.

  • Effectively handle client issues and concerns.

  • Handle employee issues and concerns effectively, confidentially, and in a timely manner.

  • Process payroll, and assist with the scheduling of Security Officers, when needed.

  • Support all other division sales through leads and/or community contacts.

  • On-call/available 24 hours per day for contact in case of emergency.

  • Develop assigned personnel to assure the highest levels of performance and standards of professionalism.

  • Conduct performance appraisals of assigned personnel as review is scheduled and due.

  • Supervise assigned personnel to provide direction and assure efficient and effective operation of daily functions.

  • Attend regularly scheduled meetings.

  • Oversee the distribution and maintenance of company issued phones and/or other electronic devices.

  • Responsible for overseeing the training program for Security Officers and supervisory personnel, including safety training.

  • Oversee the creation, publication, distribution, and revision of post order manuals for all jobsites.

  • Oversee the management of company vehicles, including maintaining records of vehicle inspections and scheduling maintenance and/or repairs.

  • Perform post inspections and ride along with supervisory personnel periodically to ensure quality of service.

  • Ensure employees adhere to all company policies and procedures through training, counseling and by personal example.

  • Travel, as required.Some overnight travel is expected.

  • Hire, train and mentor direct reports by making sound hiring decisions, training each new hire and current staff as needed and continually mentor staff in order to assist in the successful performance of your direct report(s).

  • Address performance and behavior issues in a timely manner. Work with Human Resources when necessary regarding employee relations issues and follow through with appropriate action. Approach each issue fair and consistently in order to reduce Per Mar’s legal risk.

Education and/or Experience:

  • High School Diploma or GED is required for all Per Mar Security Services positions.

  • Bachelor's degree (B. A.) from four-year college or university preferred;

  • Two to four years related supervisory and management and/or security industry experience preferred.

Licenses/Certifications:

  • Must have a valid driver’s license and good driving record.

  • Must be able to obtain State of Iowa security license and State of Illinois PERC per company policy.

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:

  • Must be able to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations.

  • Must be able to write reports, business correspondence, and

  • Must effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.

  • Must be able to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume.

  • Must apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry; define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.

  • Must be able to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.

  • Strong computer skills with demonstrated experience in Microsoft Office Suite including Word and Excel are required; Access experience a plus.Internet skills required.

  • Must be able to operate office equipment such as copier and fax machines.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills are required.

  • Strong customer service focus/skills a must.

  • Must be detail oriented and able to handle multiple tasks.

  • Must be capable of handling challenging and stressful situations without decreasing productivity.

  • Must effectively work with people at all levels of the organization and with external customers.
