Wisconsin State Government Operations Program Associate - Limited Term Employment in Dane, Wisconsin

The mission of the Department of Safety and Professional Services (DSPS) is to promote economic growth and stability while protecting the citizens of Wisconsin as designated by statute. DSPS and related professional boards protect the citizens of Wisconsin by performing inspections of commercial buildings, amusement rides, boilers, elevators, pressurized gas systems, and electrical systems; and performing plan reviews of commercial building, plumbing, fire suppression, elevators, boilers, and private onsite wastewater treatment systems, and ensuring the safe and competent practice of licensed professionals.

The Department of Safety and Professional Services is currently seeking to fill a Limited Term Employment position as an Operations Program Associate position at our Waukesha office or our Madison office presently located at 1400 E. Washington Avenue, Madison, WI. Sometime in 2018, the agency will begin relocating to our new office location at 4846 Sheboygan Ave., Madison, WI; which offers convenient access to the Hilldale Shopping Center, University Avenue, UW Campus, and downtown. Position Summary:

This position provides complex administrative and confidential program-related support services to the Division of Industry Services. This position works primarily with the electrical program, and performs paraprofessional duties by acting as the office management, administrative and program support person for the staff of the electrical program. This position maintains the flow of communications within the Department, within the Division, and with external contacts in collaboration with the Bureau Director and Chief, Integrated Services Section. This position also functions as a resource for identifying, monitoring, evaluating and implementing processes and policies relevant to the position. The position may assist with office management support activities for other programs within the Division of Industry Services.

Minimally qualified candidates will have experience with:

  • Assisting internal and external customers and/or stakeholders with inquiries/questions through email, letters, fax, and over the phone

  • Utilizing computer programs for creating letters, data entry, and email (e.g. Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, etc.)

  • Preparing, designing, and developing training programs with a variety of computer software (e.g. PowerPoint) Well qualified candidates will have experience with:

  • Utilizing and maintaining online databases and/or uploading shared documents

  • Interpretting Wis. Admin Codes and Statutes
