Job Title: Plant Operator Harris County Municipal Utility District No. 50 (the District ) provides water and wastewater services to Barrett Station and the surrounding area. The District was created in 1972 and has experienced significant growth in the last 5 years and anticipates our growth to continue steadily. We are currently looking to hire a licensed water/wastewater operator. This position is self-managed with limited supervision requiring high ethics and professionalism representing the District s business with the potential for development and growth. JOB DESCRIPTION: Field Maintenance Personnel - Performs a variety of semi-skilled and skilled technical and maintenance work in the operation, maintenance and repair of water and wastewater treatment facilities and systems. DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: *Performs utility repairs to include dye testing, manhole repairs, meter leaks, tap line leaks, calibrate meters, etc. *Maintains and repairs District wastewater and water facilities; assist with plant/facility operations as directed/needed. *Ensures maintenance and repairs of District facilities within regulatory parameters.Performs repairs on tap lines, main lines, manholes, meters, sanitary sewers and valve leaks as directed. Performs turning water services on and off. *Contacts residents and business owners in area where services will be discontinued and explains when services will be shut off and how soon it will be turned back on (hanging door tags). *Responds to and resolves customer service complaints as is related to District facilities in a timely and cost-effective manner. *Reviews service orders for accuracy, details, materials and comments; dispatch to staff for completion; communicate concerns to appropriate Executive staff. *Ensures repairs and maintenance, to both District facilities and service lines, are completed in a timely and cost effective manner while meeting regulatory requirements. *Monitors, operates, cleans, lubricates and maintains equipment, tools and trucks used on the job. *Performs routine maintenance of landscaped areas. *Disposes of litter, debris, and brush. *Maintains simple records of work performed, materials and equipment used, and job site conditions. This individual drives a District vehicle and operates some construction equipment. Minimum two year s experience in water and wastewater facilities and utility operations and repairs. Certificates, Licenses, Registrations, Specialized Equipment, Safety Training: Must have valid Texas driver s license to drive as needed; must have minimum one-year training in backhoe operations, jet truck operations, excavation and trench safety. Preferred candidate will hold either a class C/D water and/or wastewater license in the state of Texas. TECHNICAL SKILLS: Basic computer skills, preferably data processing and spreadsheet experience. Ability to use vehicle GPS System. Ability to use your workday. Performs all duties in conformance to appropriate safety and security standards. Follow all company policies and SOPs.
