Operations Section Manager : Research Operations

The Operations Section Manager will be a key member of the J.P. Morgan Securities Resource Center for creating and maintaining a team responsible for an optimum client experience that will service clients nationally. The team under your management is designed to assist clients by providing support through an online platform and various forms of communication. The Operations Manager is responsible for providing exceptional leadership and effective supervision to the associates in the Research Operations Resource Center. The Manager sets the tone and culture within the Chicago site and act as a brand ambassador within the organization and across lines of business. The OSM manages and directs the daily activities of multiple operations functions, as well as makes recommendations to improve the productivity, quality, and efficient delivery of products and services. The manager will develop and implement solid policies and procedures to ensure client satisfaction with good internal controls. Requires a bachelor's degree or its equivalent and 2-3 years of securities industry experience. The candidate should be familiar with brokerage concepts, practices, and procedures, as they will rely on their experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals. The role involves a variety of complicated tasks, escalations, and good judgment. The optimum candidate will be comfortable leading the work of others to ensure proper resource allocation.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Successful implementation and development of team, maintain an environment of compliance, participate and have oversight of unit procedures.

  • Develop close partnership with other client service leaders, Business Analysts, Risk and Controls partners, and workforce management team to ensure proper oversight and communication.

  • Respond to events, make tactical decisions, and execute plans . Provide guidance for HR matters, performance management, discipline, and talent management.

  • Schedule and load balancing daily between teams or phone queues

  • Provide leadership, motivate at an individual and team level, work with other managers in the same capacity to assist when needed.

  • Ability to network, partner and influence leaders in various parts of the organization in order to move the business forward.

  • Ability to manage multiple priorities; be adaptive to change

  • Excellent communication skills, highly professional and experienced in creating and presenting information to audiences at various levels of the organization.

  • Be comfortable using Microsoft Office software (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access, etc.) and some spreadsheet file manipulation skills.

  • Strong leadership and communication skills

  • Strong analytical skills and attention to detail

  • Strong time management skills

  • Ability to effectively handle multiple concurrent assignments

  • Requires experience in investment or brokerage industry

  • Prefer FINRA Series 7 and 24 licenses - but not required

  • Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, and Project.

  • Prefer Bachelor’s Degree
