ASR Group/Domino Sugar Production (Operations) Supervisor in Chicago, Illinois

Reporting directly to the Planning and Performance Manager, the Production Supervisor works is responsible for the entire operation by driving results through effective resource management, safe operating procedures, Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP’s), and regulatory compliance.


  • Prioritize, schedule, and delegate work assignments to ensure the production of products to meet customer specifications, company quality standards, and customer delivery requirements.

  • Recommend and implement measures to improve production methods, equipment performance, safety standards and quality of products.

  • Train, coach and involve employees; appraise performance; offer praise and hold accountable; address complaints and resolve problems.

  • Oversee and review all required paperwork, reports and documentation.

  • Coordinate the production planning process with the other departments for downtime for PM and Work Order completion.

  • Actively participate on cross-functional teams for the continuous on-going improvement of methods and processes, including equipment performance, safety standards, and quality of products.

  • Continually review, recommend and implement programs to comply with all State, Federal and local safety and sanitation regulations and employment issues.

  • Ensure proper up-keep of equipment; address and resolve problems; initiate work orders for repairs.

  • Maintain a high level of completion of quality initiatives for the plant such as CAPA Completion/SQF Preparedness/HAACP Awareness/GMP’s

  • Provides excellent level of customer service to both internal and external customers. Performs all other duties as assigned. Reports to work on time and works overtime as required and if required.

  • 3+ years leadership experience, preferably in food manufacturing

  • Demonstrated ability to direct, coach, and develop a team of 15-20 associates on a daily basis.

  • Leads by example to create and maintain a workplace culture that engages and motivates associates at all levels.

  • Demonstrated ability to communicate and develop relationships across all levels and functions of the organization to support overall business success. Bilingual in Spanish preferred.

  • Proven ability to make sound decisions regarding resource utilization and needs.

  • Experience implementing Continuous Improvement tools to improve Packaging & OEE Performance preferred

  • Prior knowledge of SAP, Kronos, and Mii preferred


  • Bachelor’s Degree (Engineering, Business Management, Food Science, or Organization Leadership/Management preferred) or equivalent experience


  • This position directly supervises a team of 15+ hourly associates


  • Strong Microsoft office and PC skills

  • Work extended days and/or weekends with flexibility to switch shifts as required

  • Aptitude for teambuilding and employee engagement.

  • Results-oriented, process improvement focused.

  • Highly organized, self-starter that can work with little direct supervision.

  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand and use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls. Must be able to stand or walk for up to 8 hours. Must be able to lift objects up to 50lbs. Required to work in manufacturing conditions (loud noise, dust, motorized equipment, etc).
