Navigant’s Performance Excellence practice specializes in large-scale operations improvement, post-merger integration, and business transformation work for academic medical centers and large health systems and community hospitals. Serve as SME for workforce and productivity optimization in the areas of analytics, process design and technology utilization
Aids in the design and implementation of analysis of key workforce related data (using excel) (e.g Analyze the patient demand and labor supply of the hospital and establish the gaps in the clinical labor staffing in the current state
Serve as an analytical resource helping in analytics and modeling needed for the staffing optimization projects and participates in process improvement discussions with the clients
Design/manage important project plans and delivery timelines on staffing and optimization engagements for hospitals and other healthcare clients
Cost benefit analysis as needed
Participate in discussions responsible for guiding the development of budget in collaboration with unit manager/directors and finance.
Aid in measurement system to track the impact of the changes and report the same
Lead the clients through root cause analysis of implementation and performance issues and help design solutions.
Has knowledge in utilizing advanced mathematics as applied to a business setting, for example, linear programming, optimization modeling, operations research, logistics science. Hands on experience is an added benefit
Hands on experience with Microsoft Excel (basic excel functions, advanced excel functions). (Excel macro programming and experience with Lindo solver are added benefits)
Excellent computer skills; proficiency in all current business applications and software, including but not limited to Word, Power Point
Knowledge, experience and overlap with other disciplines, notably industrial engineering and management science, and draws on psychology and organization science is important.
Knowledgeable in basic Toyota Lean/Six Sigma and/or TQM or related process evaluation and process improvement techniques.
Basic understanding of root cause analysis
Possesses basic financial management skills related to planning, budgeting, forecasting, and reporting. Understands the interdependencies of these systems
Ability to gather and analyze financial performance data
Basic understanding of accounts payable/receivable processes
Able to construct a basic financial pro forma including cost benefit analysis and clinical implications of decision/deployment strategy changes.
Very good communication skills – oral and written, able to construct verbal and written messages for a variety of audiences
MBA or MS in Operations Research, Industrial Engineering or Mathematical Programming (Bachelors in computer science is plus)
Prior consulting experience, healthcare industry experience and PhD are desired
Moderate to heavy work related travel is required
Frequently communicates with clients and coworkers and must be able to share information effectively
Strong conceptual, as well as quantitative and qualitative analytical skills
Work as a member of a team as well as be a self-motivator with ability to work independently
Flexibility and responsiveness in managing multiple projects in sometimes high-pressure situations simultaneously
Able to travel via airplane with minimal assistance to client sites across the US and potentially internationally
Usually remains stationary for the majority of the day
Regularly uses close visual acuity and operates computer equipment to prepare and analyze and transmit data
