Chesterfield County Heavy Equipment Operator (Env. Engineering/re-ad 18-00136) in Chesterfield, Virginia

Minimum Qualifications:

High school diploma or GED; three years of progressive experience operating heavy motorized equipment to include backhoe, bulldozer, excavator, trencher, forklift, tractor and skid-steer loaders; or an equivalent combination of training and experience. Ability to operate single and tandem-axle dump trucks with and without equipment trailers; to load and transport equipment and materials to various job sites; to read and interpret blueprints; to perform light routine maintenance on equipment operated. Ability to swim preferred. Must possess a valid Class A Commercial Driver's License (CDL) and familiarity with OSHA excavation standards. Good driving record required. Must not reflect a total accumulation of six or more negative points within the past three years or a major violation within the past four years. Pre-employment drug testing, FBI criminal background check and education/degree verification required.


Maintain county's stormwater infrastructure, storm-sewer lines and associated infrastructure; install and maintain stabilization of rip-rap, concrete channels and associated infrastructure; perform snow removal from county facilities. Perform other work as required.
