SUMMARYUnder general supervision, generates technical drawings for new machinery or to improve existing machine designs by performing the following duties. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIESUtilizes SolidWorks solid modeling software used in conjunction with DBWorks data management software interfaced with IBM AS400 mainframe and also uses AutoCAD and/or 3-D drafting software to perform drafting work requiring knowledge and skill in drafting methods, procedures and techniques. Computer-aided drawings produced include: assembly, weldment and detail drawings. Creates drawings using recognized engineering systems of symbols, legends, shadings and lines in AutoCAD. Works with sketches, marked up prints and verbal instructions given by design originator to prepare engineering drawings for shop use in manufacturing products. Uses initiative, resourcefulness and drafting expertise to contribute any ideas to original designer. Checks own work to assure that anticipated problems in manufacturing assembly, installation and operation are resolved. Product Leader double checks structural and dimensional aspects. Engineering Supervisor double checks format, shop capabilities and raw materials. Generates plots-to-printer or copier- to-print finished drawings. Projects a positive company image by interacting with fellow employees, customers and management in a cooperative, supportive and courteous manner; displays a professional attitude; complies with company dress code. Communicates with individuals at all levels within the organization. Documents assigned tasks as required. Performs work according to production schedule and/or supervisorand#39;s directives. QUALIFICATIONSTo perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCEHigh school diploma or general education degree (GED) required. SolidWorks or other 3-D software experience required. Engineering drawing reading and interpretation skills required. Knowledge of engineering systems of symbols, legends, shadings and lines required. Must have basic typing skills, be proficient with personal computer and Microsoft Office Suite software applications. Minimum five (5) years of experience in a manufacturing environment preferred. Two-year technical degree a plus. Understanding of AS400 mainframe software a plus. Knowledge of manufacturing processes a plus. SKILLS AND ABILITIES REQUIREDAbility to work satisfactorily as a team member. Good communication skills (both verbal and written). Ability to handle sudden changes in project/priority and multiple tasks simultaneously in a positive fashion. Ability to set, adjust and change daily priorities. Good organization and time-management skills. Willingness to accept responsibility and take on new challenges. Ability to use calculator and other standard office equipment (fax, copier, scanner, etc.). Accurate data entry/typing and proofreading skills. Ability to work with minimal supervision. Adept at problem solving. OTHER REQUIREMENTSMust be eighteen (18) years of age or older. Must successfully complete pre-employment drug screen, physical and background check. Must be dependable.
