The Operational Risk Oversight and Governance office has an exciting opportunity for an Operational Risk Manager. In order to achieve our aspiration of setting the global standard for risk management, this position plays a crucial role in a variety of key operational risk responsibilities.

The Operational Risk Manager must be recognized as a subject matter expert in operational risk concepts, issue management, and risk management activities. The leader will develop, implement, and monitor an operational risk-wide issue management policy and supporting elements, including governance and oversight. We are seeking an ambitious self-starter who is adaptable to working in a fast paced, changing environment. The ideal candidate will also have powerful presentation and communication skills, which are succinct, convincing and highly effective. The position requires a natural leader with outstanding abilities to influence internal partners, senior management, peers and junior members of the team.

Responsibilities include:

  • Leading relevant strategy discussions regarding implementation of the new issue management policy and strategy specific to operational risk

  • Leading a group of team members to build and manage the policy and supporting elements (procedures, standards, reporting, monitoring, etc.)

  • Ensuring the issue management governance approach aligns with existing frameworks and policies

  • Identifying, assessing, and implementing opportunities for improved risk governance

  • Developing an operational risk enterprise-wide impact analysis and implementation plan for the policy

  • Defining requirements and best practices for issue management to support new policy

  • Developing appropriate job aids and training to implement policy requirements

  • Defining a monitoring program to ensure operational risk adherence to the various policy components

  • Ongoing risk oversight and governance of the issue management

  • Develop, maintain/automate, and manage the execution of reporting related to issues management; track metrics and efforts to evidence control performance and ongoing monitoring;

  • Develop, maintain, and deliver the overall view of issues management and risk reduction plans for operational risk

  • Periodically assess the operational risk group and issues for gaps to the issue management policy and best practices guidance

  • This individual may directly manage 2-3 specialists/consultants, or lead project/virtual teams and mentor lower-level staff.

Required Qualifications:

  • 8+ years of experience in compliance, operational risk management (includes audit, legal, credit risk, market risk, or the management of a process or business with accountability for compliance or operational risk), or a combination of both; or 8+ years of IT systems security, business process management or financial services industry experience, of which 4+ years must include direct experience in compliance, operational risk management, or a combination of both

  • 3+ years of management experience
