Wells Fargo Analytic Consultant 4 - Corporate Operational Risk Key Indicator and Model Risk Governance Programs in Charlotte, North Carolina

Join a new team reporting to the Analytics Manager supporting the Wells Fargo Key Indicator Program and Corporate Risk Model Risk Governance Program. This role will provide analytics and reporting to Corporate Operational Risk’s executive/senior management team and deliver data and analytical strategies that provide a competitive advantage. This position will help design and manage data strategy and analysis for the new WF Key Indicator (KI) Program, and for the WF Corporate Risk Model Risk Governance (MRG) Program.

  • The Team*

The Operational Risk Group is responsible for independently overseeing the management of operational risk exposures (including monitoring and reporting on aggregate operational risk exposures across groups, legal entities, geographies and jurisdictions) and the quality of operational risk management practices across the company.

The Corporate Risk – Operational Risk Group Key Indicator Program and Model Risk Governance Program team focuses on two key areas: the development, execution and evolution of the WF Key Indicator Program and the oversight and governance of the Corporate Risk Model Inventory in support of the Corporate Risk Model Risk Officer, Mark D’Arcy.

  • Specific responsibilities include:*

/Key Indicator Program/

  • Deliver on the end to end execution of the KI program reporting and analytics tool, including change management and communication

  • With the direction of the analytics manager, design and implement dashboard reporting that includes boundaries, trigger status, graphics, trending, etc. geared appropriately to audience

  • Track and monitor indicators for patterns, trends and early detection of potential issues; effectively drive collaborative discussions toward workable solutions

  • Analyze metrics to validate risk, process and control hypotheses and their strength, correlation or level they inform

  • Aggregate and synthesize data to make insightful recommendations about risk exposure to aid in decision making

  • Drive enhancement to existing reporting including improvements to automation, trending, and visualization

  • Support the Key Indicator program team in ensuring that indicator program requirements are incorporated into the Technology Roadmap for critical tools for the program

  • Monitor and oversee data contained in the Key Indicator data repository, ensuring appropriate procedures are followed to ensure indicator owner adherence with data governance policies and standards

  • Compile and maintain technical details and information on KIP data sources; incorporate new data sources as appropriate and build expertise in these sources

  • Continuously review and improve KIP processes and controls to ensure data accuracy and integrity

  • Evolve KI reporting as program matures - design meaningful analysis and reporting to drive proactive recommendations (via leading indicators) to manage risk

  • Work directly with risk partners, programs, and businesses to identify issues and information needs and translate them into specific data/technical requirements

  • Effectively manage and execute on a large portfolio of data products and initiatives

/Model Risk Governance Program/

  • With the direction of the analytics manager, engage with Corporate Model Risk (CMoR) to design and develop analytics and actionable reporting from the Model Risk Inventory (MoRS) to support key decisions and actions for model risk officers, model owners, and model governance

  • Design and implement dashboard reporting that includes portfolio overviews, issues, exceptions, trending analysis, performance updates, upstream/downstream analysis

  • Support the development of monthly and quarterly executive reporting for Risk Committees & senior audiences

  • Analyze metrics and provide insights and observations to help guide model risk officers and model governance

  • Aggregate and synthesize data to make insightful recommendations about risk exposure to aid in decision making

  • Drive enhancements to existing reporting including improvements to automation, trending, and visualization

  • Analyze MoRS data and provide recommendations; partner with CMoR to expand data use and reach

  • Support ad-hoc requests and broaden analytics and tools that are used for Corporate Risk Model Governance

  • Ensure compliance and sound risk management practices with Model Risk Governance Policy & Supporting Standards, Stress testing policies, Information Security Policies, Enterprise Data Management Policy, Governance and Oversight Framework, and legal, regulatory and privacy requirements

Required Qualifications:

  • 6+ years of experience in one or a combination of the following: reporting, analytics, or modeling; or a Masters degree or higher in a quantitative field such as applied math, statistics, engineering, physics, accounting, finance, economics, econometrics, computer sciences, or business/social and behavioral sciences with a quantitative emphasis and 4+ years of experience in one or a combination of the following: reporting, analytics, or modeling

  • Strong analytical skills with high attention to detail and accuracy

  • Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills

  • Advanced Microsoft Excel skills

  • SQL experience
