IMPORTANT INFORMATION: This position require military membership in the Puerto Rico Air National Guard (PRANG). AREA OF CONSIDERATION: Area 1 = Permanent technicians Enlisted members currently employed in the Puerto Rico Air National Guard.

Area 2 = Enlisted members of the Puerto Rico Air National Guard and personnel that meet all requirements to become an Airman in the Puerto Rico Air National Guard. (This position requires Air National Guard membership).

To prevent a grade inversion, military rank allowed for this position will be determined at the final evaluation of the vacancy announcement considering the military rank of the supervisor.

As a MOTOR VEHICLE OPERATOR (D1961000), WG-5703-8, you will perform a variety of duties relating to materiel distribution activities, including organic ground transportation for cargo and personnel. Receives, in-checks, routes, and moves parts, assemblies, components, and on-base turn-ins into and out of industrial shops. ) Interprets packing manuals and specifications and determines containers, protective devices, cushioning materials, methods, and techniques needed for packing a variety of tools, parts, equipment, and other items, taking into consideration such factors as size, type, weight, fragility, hazardous materials, transportation mode, and destination of items.

Physical Demands:

Performs work on hard surfaces in work areas that require the incumbent to stand, stoop, bend and work in tiring and uncomfortable positions. Frequently lifts and carries items that weigh up to 70 pounds. May exert moderate to heavy physical effort in climbing on tractors to hook up service lines, lower landing gears, and in climbing on the trailer to load or tie down cargo.

Working Environment:

Incumbent is required to work inside and outside and is exposed to all types of weather and traffic conditions. The incumbent is exposed to the possibility of serious injury from traffic accidents or while handling heavy equipment and supplies.

GENERAL EXPERIENCE: Experience, education, or training which demonstrates the applicant's skill in the operation of appropriate vehicles; ability to drive safely, to interpret instructions, specifications, etc. (related to motor vehicle operation); knowledge of handling and loading materials, ability to accurately check, count, verify, and sort various items, keep records and logs; ability to meet schedules and deadlines.

SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE*:* Applicant must possess more than EIGHTEEN (18) months of specialized experience performing or supervising duties such as operating gasoline, diesel, or electric powered vehicles over a variety of roads to include highways, narrow roads, and steep winding grades; loading, distributing and restraining loads of varying dimensions; evaluating conditions and load limits of bridges; accessing traffic conditions and hazards; performing troubleshooting and light maintenance such as changing lights and tires; receiving, in-checking, routing, and moving parts, assemblies, components, and on-base turn-ins and out of industrial shops.

SUBSTITUTION OF EDUCATION FOR SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: Study successfully completed in a college university, technical or vocational school may be substituted at the rate of one academic year of study (30 semester's hours or 20 classroom hours of instruction per week) for 6 months of specialized experience. Courses must be directly related to the work of the position. Copy of student transcripts must be included in order to receive credit for education. Unofficial transcripts from internet or with alterations will not be considered. To receive credit for education the information must be included in the education section of the Resume.

CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT: Failure to meet or comply with the following requirements will be basis for non-employment or removal from employment, as appropriate.

  • Successfully complete a medical screening before placement action and a periodic medical evaluation thereafter.

  • Proper protective equipment must be used to comply with safety standards.

  • Males born after 31 Dec 59 must provide evidence of registration with the Selective Service System.

  • Evidence of identity must be provided to comply with the Immigration Reform and Control Act of 1986 (PL 99-603).

  • Possess or be able to acquire a SECRET security clearance.

  • Acceptance of the position constitutes concurrence to wear the appropriate military uniform.

  • Possess or be able to acquire a Puerto Rico driver's license/ Heavy Mobile driver's license.

  • Continued employment in this position is contingent upon satisfactory completion of the mandatory training specifically identified for the position.

  • Individual selected must enroll in the Department of Defense Direct Deposit / Electronic Fund Transfer Pay Program.

  • Loss of military membership will result in immediate loss of your full-time military technician position.

  • Excepted Civil Service Technicians are required to maintain a MOS/AFSC and military grade that is determined by the NGB to be compatible with the assigned technician position.

COMPATIBLE MILITARY ASSIGNMENT: In order to achieve compatibility prior to effective date of personnel action, individual selected must be eligible for military assignment to a paragraph and line number in one of the following: AFSC 2T1XX, 2T0XX, 2S0XX.

**Note: In order to qualify for above mentioned AFSC(s) you must comply with mandatory entry requirements contained in Air Force Manual AFMAN 36-2108, Enlisted Classification or AFMAN 36-2105, Officer Classification, as applicable.

Individual selected for this position who is not qualified in one of the mentioned AFSC, MUST submit to HRO, before date of appointment, the correct military paperwork/application to attend the technical training school required to be AFSC Qualified. If selectee fails to process the school application and does not successfully graduate from the school, he/she will be terminated from the technician program for failure to meet the compatibility standards and receive a 30 days notice of separation.**
