ENVIRONMENTAL HEALTH & SAFETY SPECIALIST (Operations Services - Cambridge, ON)
We are recruiting for an Environmental Health & Safety Specialist for our Operations Services division in Cambridge, Ontario.
Role Summary: Instill and foster proactive EHS-conscious culture and drive operational ownership of BWXT's Environment, Health & Safety programs through all levels of the organization.
Lead team of EHS Program owners to ensure successful EHS management system implementation at the site.
Develop and maintain general knowledge of applicable regulatory requirements.
Track and lead resolution of Employee EHS Concern Reports.
Develop and perform EHS audits / inspections and ensure appropriate corrective actions are developed and implemented on a timely basis.
Perform program reviews, EHS assessments and drive closure of corrective actions to ensure compliance with regulatory and Company requirements.
Manage the Safety Data Sheet System including access and updating of SDS's.
Complete Environmental regulatory reporting requirements.
Coordinate with consultants and contractors on EHS related concerns.
Manage compliance tracking programs and record keeping systems (i.e. EHS Insights).
Assist area leaders with incident investigations and corrective actions.
Present to internal teams on metrics, project status and research.
Evaluate site EHS risks and challenges and develop appropriate risk reduction strategies, including Risk Assessments, etc.
Perform additional tasks, as required by the site EHS Leader.
Qualifications / Requirements:
Bachelor's degree in Occupational Safety and Health, Industrial Hygiene, or related subject from an accredited university or college (or equivalent experience).
5 years of experience in EHS and/or related technical field.
Ability to carry a cell phone and respond to emergencies, when assigned such responsibility.
Strong understanding of Microsoft Suite of tools.
Ability to interface effectively with all levels within the company as well as organizations outside of the Company (regulators).
Strong oral and written communication skills.
Strong interpersonal skills.
Strong analytical skills.
Knowledge of environmental regulations.
