Cambridge Valley Machining, Inc. CNC Machine Operator in Cambridge, New York

Job Purpose: Operates CNC equipment to manufacture product, performing necessary quality checks.

Essential duties and responsibilities:
-Measure dimensions of finished work pieces to ensure conformance to specifications, using precision measuring instruments, templates, and fixtures.
-Listen to machines during operation in order to detect sounds such as those made by dull cutting tools or excessive vibration and report potential issues to supervisor.
-Operate computer controlled machines to perform one or more machine functions.
-Confers with supervisors or programmers to resolve machine malfunctions and production errors, and to obtain approval to continue production.
-Review program specifications or blueprints to determine and set machine operations and sequencing, finished work piece dimensions, or numerical control.
-Monitor machine operation and control panel displays, and compare readings to specifications in order to detect malfunctions.
-Control coolant systems by coordinating with supervisor or project leader to check and maintain coolant concentration.
-Ensures operation of equipment by completing preventive maintenance requirements; following manufacturers instructions; troubleshooting simple malfunctions and calling for repairs.
-Stack or unload finished items, or place items on conveyor systems or in shipping containers.
-Supports 5S by cleaning machines, tooling, parts and all associated work areas, or solutions and rags.
-Documents actions by completing production logs, quality logs, inspection sheets and accurate time cards.
-Other duties may be assigned.

Positions are for second and third shift operators.

Applicants must have a H.S. diploma or GED equivalent. Qualifications: to perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactory.
